Come on Westy, you know the rules. Whilst talking up the Aussies chances this series you must mention 3 times Ashes loser Mitchell JOHNSON.

Re: Ashes warm up games
Australia have to be favourites for The Ashes, for the simple fact away test series victories, aren't very common these days. Australia haven't won a test series in England, against England, since 2001, for example. Australia should be very embarrassed if they don't win at least 3 tests, weather permitting.

Dawid Johannes Malan

Well I guess we know who will be in charge of the BRAAI if England win

Re: Ashes warm up games
I think both teams could point at potential holes in the others batting lineup.
Lots of unproven players
England of course are fielding the number 1 batsman in the world (Root), their best ever batsman (Cook) and their leading wicket taker of all time (Anderson).
Which is the equivalent of Australia having Ponting, Bradman & Warne.

I think Warner’s would have to be completely detached for him not to play. S Marsh is more of a worry as he continually seems to have back and hamstring issues. Inconceivable that he will play all 5 Tests which is why I would have stuck with Renshaw and batted Bancroft at 6.

Re: Ashes warm up games
If Maxwell plays and bats at 6, we'll fancy that tail. Lots of pressure on Smith if Warner doesn't play.

Malan born in Roehampton. I played cricket with his dad.

Bancroft finished with a double century at Gloucester I believe
Carried his bat for WA two weeks ago batting against Starc, Cummins, Hazlewood & Lyon and made another double century v S Australia last week.
I suppose every player wants to be in form when he is picked so he has his best chance.
Justin Langer has been the biggest influence on him I believe

Re: Ashes warm up games
I think Lyon can expect some short stuff when he visits the crease, cant wait. Will try and watch the first hour tonight, and I'm off work on Friday so will catch a chunk of day two

On the contrary, sven son, I'm loving every minute of the build up. Very reminiscent of 2010/11 with us quietly and classily going about our business while the Australians talk themselves into a corner. We've done everything right so far.

It's not really a discussion. Your players keep talking about him.

I'm delighted to hear about the serial Ashes series loser. Hopefully our players are too.

Sven Roeder 10:12 Wed Nov 22
Re: Ashes warm up games
I guess the discussion of any series involves the most recent one in that country.
Hence discussion of 2013/14
Where Cook averaged 30, Root 25 before being dropped and Bairstow 12 & Ballance something similar. But Stokes was good.

Sven Roeder 10:07 Wed Nov 22
Re: Ashes warm up games
That Root seems composed unlike the angry S Griffin with his ‘helmets’ & ‘cunts’
Dry your eyes on your red corduroy trousers , stewie, & concentrate on the game.

Is there going to be any cricket discussion on here or is it all going to be cunt this and cunt that?

Australia’s recent Ashes record in Australia

Agree I’d really hope that would be up at 80%

England team as expected with only Stokes to be added once he arrives.
Australia team does look fragile and short term. Would have preferred them to look forward with players like Head, Cartwright or Renshaw and Alex Carey as the keeper and presumably that will happen if they lose early. All seems a bit short term as in 2013.
