Saturday football
Falling leaves and flying rockets may offer more entertainment than many of today’s Premier League fixtures. But this could be a day for the pools – all but one of them, anyway.

STOKE CITY vs LEICESTER CITY (1230 ko)
You wonder how much advertisers have to pay to show their wares at half-time in this one. Both teams would aspire, you feel, to mid-table security at the end of the season. Mark Hughes will be well pleased with his side’s win at Watford last week, while the diminutive Claude Puel will have been equally pleased with the three points the Foxes’ nicked at Swansea. Draw.

SOUTHAMPTON vs BURNLEY
High-flying Burnley will hope to leapfrog Liverpool at the end of play today. As will most people reading this. But the Saints are no mugs and have shown signs of renewing their acquaintance with the back of the net. Both sides are hard to break down and look likely to cancel each other out. Draw.

SWANSEA CITY vs BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION
This could be the stand-out game of the 3.00pm kick-offs, pitting two competent managers, both tactically astute and operating with limited resources, against each other. Survival is the name of the game for both and a win today will be as valuable as any. Expect a hard-fought encounter with frustrated stalemate writ large. Draw.

HUDDERSFIELD TOWN vs WEST BROMWICH ALBION
A Tony Pullis away day won’t bring joyful anticipation to Huddersfield fans, who can look forward to a solid defence and a cherry-picking attack strategy in their opposition. The Terriers’ points-to-games ratio remains firmly in the survival zone, but this is the type of game they’ll have to win to maintain what must be a slim hope for a second season in the top tier. An early home goal will do much to enhance this game’s appeal. Draw.

NEWCASTLE UNITED vs BOURNEMOUTH
It’s been a tough start to the campaign for Bournemouth, but a couple of decent results in October should remind doubters of their ability. But that will be tested by a Newcastle team that’s exceeded most people’s expectations so far this season, although they retain a West Ham-like capacity for inconsistency. Draw.

WEST HAM UNITED vs LIVERPOOL (1730 ko)
It’s neither exaggeration nor rosey tints to say that this is the game of the day by a significant margin. The good news is that Coutinho is out for Liverpool. The bad news includes a massively depleted defence. Antonio is out. And there is a strong likelihood of injury time. This is always one of the top home fixtures, but a sense of impending doom fills the autumn air today. A crushing defeat could spell the end of Slaven’s reign. Send in the clowns. Rosey tinted draw.

Re: Saturday football
That pools article makes it sound so bloody easy - just 8 score draws out of 10 selections! Just like an Accra really except you're allowed 2 bad results. Just like printing money. What they don't tell you is that if there are 20 score draws on the coupon and you actually get your 8 then you'll win fuck all. I won the 10 homes one week and expected a good few quid but t when the payputs were published on the Thursday in the paper (yes kids, that's right) I got about £2.30. Cunts.

Haha we took £1200 but only got 12.5% on that but the customer used to buy something when picking up the coupon and returning it.

Description
The Football Pools is the world’s original football gaming company and we’ve been creating winners since 1923. Our Classic game is still just £1 to play, with MASSIVE cash prizes available every week!

As you only need 8 Score Draws (1-1, 2-2, etc.) from 10 selections to win a BIG prize, unlike an accumulator, an upset doesn’t mean the end of your bet! Also, smaller prizes are available for players who just miss out on 8 correct selections.

We’ve paid out over £3.2 billion to winners, so don’t miss your chance to win our Top Prize of £3 Million. Download our app and play on the move at your convenience - you could become our next big winner!

Classic Pools

Select 10 fixtures from the list of 49 which you think will end up a Score Draw. Know nothing about football? Then pick your lucky numbers or take a lucky dip!

You get 3 points for a Score Draw, 2 points for a No-Score Draw and 1 point for all other results. We only count your best 8 selections, so a few upsets won’t ruin your bet. A total score of 24, 23 or 22 points usually wins a cash prize and some weeks, less points still win big prizes.

If your ten selections are the fastest games where both teams score, you could scoop our £3 Million Top Prize!
