Anti Virus
Using Kaspersky at the moment - works well, never had any problems.

Subscription runs out in 8 days - they have offered me a renewal at 24.99 for the year instead of 34.99

Keep it as I know what I am getting and no need to uninstall and get rid or is there anything just as good for cheaper?

Not keen on the free stuff like AVG as if it is free it evidently doesn't work as well as paid subscriptions - or does it?

Obviously I want to be free of dodgy stuff especially as I use, ahem, 'fun' sites - yeak OK, like no one else does (-:

Cheers you CUNTS

I use EST Nod 32 and have done for years, runs quietly and updates itself in the background and never had a problem, also use there mobile security on my phone as i do most of my banking etc via the Bank apps, seems you are more vulnerable these days on your phone than a PC.

Re: Anti Virus
They're all shit, may as well go with the windows one or a free one. I'd be swerving Kaspersky all day long.

Re: Anti Virus
It’s a fallacy that most viruses are imported as a result of visiting “adult” sites.

Re: Anti Virus
The free version of AVG, as recommended to me by wmc3205 as being perfectly adequate for my needs.

He was right.

Never had a virus, but then I'm not a creepy pervert with exotic romantic inclinations.

Alright, maybe I'm just not stupid enough to go looking for outré smut on my computer, expecting no downside.

Re: Anti Virus
Yes. Microsoft's own AV should be ok too.

Free software is often fine. My whole operating system is free.

Re: Anti Virus
OK, so basically a free one with malware stuff is just as good? OK for use with on line banking etc as I do that as well

Re: Anti Virus
Used Kapersky and it kills the speed on your machine, they are also as dodgy as fuck. Just about every AV is much of a muchness and I work in IT Security.

Re: Anti Virus
I'd give Kaspersky a wide berth.

Read a month or so ago that the FSB hacked Kaspersky and plonked some spying malware in there.

Avast free is OK in combination with Malwarebytes.

OTB yep, if windows 7 can also go for Microsoft Security Essentials it does a job.

Don't we all usually end up agreeing that Windows Defender is perfectly good for home use? And built-in? And free?

Re: Anti Virus
If you have a Barclays account you get Kaspersky free for 2 devices, or £6.99 for Total (5 devices).

They also now do a free version if not.

Re: Anti Virus
The free AVG is as good as the paid, but lacks some features that end users don't care about.

Don't forget Malwarebytes as well as anti virus.

I stopped using Windows a while ago. I don't miss the battle with crap sneaking onto my computer, though The fight against pop-ups goes on.

Been using AVG for years never had a virus and I visit all sorts of sites.

Also run a scan with Malwarebytes once a month.

Thats it.
