Merry Christmas!
That's it for another year. For me, it's back into the loft until - hopefully - next October when I hope to be back again for the 12th Annual bash.

Thanks to everyone who's supported me with emails, comments and suggestions, it's really appreciated.

Merry Christmas to all of you and all the best for 2018.

Oh, and if you do get bored, please visit the blog site for all this year's songs and all the previous ten.

Day 25 - 364 Days To Go - Brad Paisley
And here we are again. There's twenty-five windows of the Blagg Advent Calendar and what better way to celebrate the day than with this spine-tingling song that just about says it all.

Don't you get the sense tonight / That for now the world is right / And as another Christmas ends / My mind drifts and once again / I'm thinking like a six year old / Only 364 days to go

Have a peaceful Christmas.

Day 24 - O Holy Night - The Temptations
The most magical day of the year - I prefer to travel than arrive - and, being a Sunday, it's a Carol for the day. There's six minutes of this wondrous track; a sumptuous vocal treat for the ears. Listen and thank your deity of your choice for the fact you're here and you can enjoy this fantastic season for another year.

Merry Christmas!

Well if this doesn't have you adjusting your new socks, reaching for the Listerine and topping up the Eggnog then nothing will.

Re: Day 22
Billy, those really put the off into off-beat!

As the big day approaches, when carols get packed away and seasonal permission to play and admit to enjoying musical kitsch is again rescinded for another year, this thread offers a late but ever welcome opportunity to impose an eclectic selection of auditory punishment on voluntarily defenceless ears.

I'm quite partial to alternative interpretations of traditional Christmas carols and have just spent an inordinate amount of time searching youtube for heavy metal versions of Silent Night, Adeste Fideles, etc. But (almost?) all of them are massive fails, because they invariably show too much respect for tradition to really let their metallic juices flow.

Speaking of fails, as a nipper I was dragged kicking and screaming to church by my parents, where we would usually sit one pew in front of a local luminary by the name of Mrs O'Dell. Or, as my dad would have it - with strict instructions not to repeat - Mrs O'Hell. Now, Mrs O'Dell/O'Hell had a voice to send the local cats scurrying off in fear, but she considered herself something of an operatic diva and would blast her way through the tunes she liked, giving particular emphasis (and volume) to those she liked best. She seemed pretty old then, so might well now be serenading those in the hereafter who led sub-optimal earthly lives with her agonising renditions of yuletide favourites.

Which brings me neatly on to this gentleman from the Falklands as he gives a seasonal masterclass in guitar playing from his living room. The video has been viewed 190 times in five years.

A good 'Pointless' answer for Christmas No: 1's though Coff. Would have won you £4k last week. You ever heard the B side?

Perhaps not fully in keeping with the spirit of the thread, but an irresistible tune anyway. And Number One at Christmas 1968. Time Rice and Elton John were among the backing singers. Impossible not to listen to this and not at least mouth medicinal compound.
