Some people still want Sakho to stay????
Diafra Sakho came off the bench for West Ham in their Carabao Cup quarter-final at Arsenal after challenging manager David Moyes about his place in the team and his £50,000 bonus.

Sakho had expected to start at the Emirates Stadium until a conversation with Moyes about why the new manager had not been picking him to start in the Premier League team.

Afterwards, the 27-year-old striker said he no longer wanted to play and wanted to go home but was persuaded to stay and take his place among the substitutes.

Andre Ayew and Javier Hernandez led the line for the Hammers although Moyes insisted his contact with Sakho had been 'only positive'.

Last week, in a 0-0 draw against Arsenal in the league, West Ham started with four recognised strikers on the bench and wingers Michail Antonio and Marko Arnautovic up front.

Sakho has appeared 14 times as a substitute in the league this season — and scored twice including the third in a 3-0 win at Stoke on Saturday — but has yet to make a start and believes that is down to a lucrative bonus clause in a new contract signed in the summer.

The new deal, signed after a £15m transfer to WBA collapsed after a medical, is understood to reward him with a £50,000 bonus whenever he starts in the Premier League — a bonus which more than doubles his basic weekly pay.

Sakho came off the bench once more on Tuesday during West Ham's Carabao Cup loss

An appearance from the bench is worth half the figure. The bonus does not cover the cup competitions and Sakho's only two starts this season have been in the League Cup.

The Senegal international wants to leave in January with Cardiff among those interested but the Championship promotion chasers are put off by West Ham's £15m valuation.

Sakho, a bargain £3.5m signing from Metz in 2014, was close to joining West Brom until his medical detected a back problem which they thought might rule him out of the start of the season but he was fit to play as a sub for West Ham at Manchester United on the opening day of the season.

West Ham have denied that Sakho has been left out of the starting line-up this season due to the bonus in his contract.

Sakho “bust-up” – the truth!

Confirmation the alleged bust-up involving Diafra Sakho and David Moyes has been fabricated has been received by ClaretandHugh.

There remains no question that the player wants out in January but the stories surrounding his alleged problems with David Moyes yesterday remain fiction!

After asking more questions we have discovered that there’s agent activity going on here as there was when the striker rushed off for an ill fated medical at Rennes in the summer.

The Daily Mail wrongly suggested “the striker said he no longer wanted to play and wanted to go home but was persuaded to stay and take his place among the substitutes”

A club insider has told ClaretandHugh emphatically declared the 27-year-old knew 24 hours in advance he would not be e on the bench as the striker knows he is still not fully match fit.

The source says also added that the quoted £50,000 per game apparance money clause in Sakho’s contract as part of a new deal has also been widely exaggerated.

As revealed in October by Claret and Hugh, Sakho is on a basic wage of £33,000 a week with appearance bonuses of £30,000 for a start and £15,000 should he find himself on the bench.

Sakho came on as a 65th-minute substitute last night and he has a very good chance starting up front on Saturday as the Hammers face Newcastle.

Is the better out of Carol and ayew but wants to go so will be sold.

I'd happily get rid of either one of the other 2 as well for a new striker.

Also we should already have money for a midfielder since bilic raised funds through player sales in the summer for carvalho. Don't let the 2 bobs get away with that

I think the problem was that Sakho gets a bonus for starting in PL games not Carabao Cup games. He was pissed off that he has not had a chance to start in any PL games. He was annoyed that his first start was scheduled for a game where he doesn't get a bonus which kind of supports his view that it is bonus money that is stopping him starting in PL games....

Re: Some people still want Sakho to stay????
anybody who seriously entertains the idea that Moyes would be influenced by match bonuses in his team selection is an idiot.

Moyes wants to win football matches. He's paid to win football matches. He doesn't care how much it costs the club if he picks Player A or Player B. He just wants to win the match and he picks what he thinks are the best players to do that.

Apart form anything else, £50,000 is a rounding error in the club's wage bill. Lunch money.

Sakho may have other issues but his matchday bonuses are nothing to do with his lack of playing time.

Personally I would like to see him fully rehabilitated as he is our best striker when fully fit.

Re: Some people still want Sakho to stay????
Thing is, we are so bereft up front at the moment that if he put some effort in and earned a couple of £25ks when he came on there's a good chance that he would get the chance to pocket a couple of £50ks.
