Clement Grenier, ffs. Once highly rated, but hasn't been a first team pick for about 5 years.

Wouldn't surprise me actually...

Thanks Alan, loving the bit where they put "reliable reporter" and "Sun Journalist" in the same piece LOL

At least the tabloids have learned to make up stuff about the correct position.

So Moyes is off to watch Inter v Roma
And Real Betis v Barca
First half at one and into the space shuttle to catch the second half of the other?

Moyes will be worn out travelling to Italy and Spain :-)

I like the sound of the Ruiz fella solely because for a change its a player under 28. Might watch the game tonight to hopefully see a decent player.

West Ham boss David Moyes to scout Betis' Fabian Ruiz vs. Barca

Peter O'Rourke

West Ham United are planning a move for Real Betis midfielder Fabian Ruiz with boss David Moyes due to fly out to watch him in action against Barcelona on Sunday, sources have told ESPN FC.

Moyes has made midfield reinforcements one of his top priorities during this month's transfer window and has been linked with a host of players, but now he is ready to switch his attention to Ruiz.

Ruiz, 21, has impressed for Betis this season, scoring two goals and creating two assists in 15 La Liga games so far this term.

Ruiz has come through the ranks at Real Betis and is a Spain under-21 international. His performances have brought him to the attention of a number of clubs across Europe and now West Ham are ready to make a move for him before the close of the transfer window.

Moyes has decided to travel to Spain to watch Ruiz in action against Barcelona as he prefers to see his transfer targets in person before making a decision on whether or not to sign him.

Ruiz has a €15 million release clause in his contract at Betis and West Ham are ready to meet if Moyes is impressed by the midfielder in the game against Barcelona.

West Ham are 11th spot in the Premier League, five points above the relegation zone and Moyes wants to bring in some quality additions before the transfer window closes to help his side secure survival.

West Ham keen on midfielder Grenier

West Ham are interested in signing central midfielder Clement Grenier from Lyon, according to a reliable journalist.

Sun reporter Alan Nixon has claimed on his personal Twitter account that the Hammers are eyeing a January move for the 27-year-old.

It is understood that the Premier League side want to try negotiate a deal with the French outfit this month over a pre-contract move with his contract set to expire at the end of the season.

Grenier has completely fallen out of favour at Lyon this campaign and made just two appearances across all competitions.

Good move for West Ham?

West Ham could do with some more reinforcements this month, but landing Grenier on a pre-contract deal and welcoming him in the summer would be the best action to take.

The five-time capped France international has barely played in the last 18 months and would be miles off the pace to make a big impact in the Premier League.

He has shown in the past that he does have quality and the midfielder was once an ever-present in the Lyon side, with his range of passing and set-piece ability a major positive to his game.

Grenier has scored 18 goals and supplied 28 appearances during 154 games for them, but is going through a difficult period.

Likely to happen?

It seems like West Ham stand a good chance of wrapping up a pre-contract agreement for the Lyon player that has been frozen out so far this campaign.

His side have had a busy schedule with Europa League football to balance, but he has still barely got a look in.

Re: The transfer window thread
If we'd have had 1 or 2 shiny new signings in the team yesterday then we may well have won the game.

According to claret and hugh Sullivan won't pay the 1.5m loan cost for 40m rated Joao Mario, shocker from the tight cunt

Re: The transfer window thread
If we don't sign at least a proper midfielder who can pass a football, it will be a fucking disgrace.

Re: The transfer window thread
Would always rather buy (please Dendoncker) than loan but the way that squad looked by the end of the game yesterday, it might be a case of any warm body will do.

Moyes trip today is a great demonstration of the lives that people at the top of football have. Just nipping across to Italy on a random Sunday to watch a couple top flight games. Jammy bastard.

Re: The transfer window thread
Always remember the story of Clough going with Peter Taylor to watch a player and leaving before kick off because he didn’t like the way he ran when warming up.

Re: The transfer window thread
They did say the player is available but unsure about us
In that case it’s worth a Sunday in Italy to convince him if Moyes thinks he is what we need

Re: The transfer window thread
I’d rather he watched someone than rely on youtube but as said if he isn’t playing it’s a wasted journey.
You’d hope SOMEONE on our staff has been watching targets seeing we have known our weaknesses for a long time.
Seems the same old Reactive Player of the Week stuff
Where is Carvalho or Dendoncker or whatever his name is?

The ones that cost money

Re: The transfer window thread
Someone on Kumb has suggested that he could be meeting the lad rather than watching him. It’s also been said that the Atlanta player he is watching is Josip Iličić. Big attacking midfielder who plays for Slovenia. Thirty in a couple weeks.

Especially if he doesn't play. Not mentioned as a likely starter in most of the Italian preview sites. But maybe Moyes know something they don't.

On another note, please no Samir Nazri. Reminds me of Milo Yannapolis.

Strange that you would need to see a lad in the flesh. One game isn’t going to tell you a lot.
