Well, I can't say I've seen much of this Mario, but watching his YouTube compilation, I'm getting hints of Faubert.

To clarify, contrary to popular belief, Faubert's YouTube compilation was bang average. And that's what I'm seeing here.

Hope I'm wrong, but he doesn't look like he's going to be what we need.

Unusually for C&H, they were first with the Arnie injured story yesterday which was spot on. Hopefully the same with Collins and new contract

Could say exactly the same about Pepe and Fonte in that Portugal team, I know which one I'd rather have.

No really an actual comparison because Joao Mario and Carvalho play in the same team in the same games generally pretty successfully.

They didn't played the same position in different years with less success.

I like the sound of that c&h article. New contracts for Ginge and Rice is the best of both worlds. Sign up loyal experience AND the talented young blood.

That makes no sense. Would you compare Rickie Lambert and Harry Kane as one and the same because they're both forwards who have played for England?

Carvalho - seen enough of him to have an opinion, he would have been supurb for us

Stepney
Great minds and all that, posts crossed on Cunte Fonte

I'll give you Fonte to counter that - bloke was a bloody deadful signing

I'll hold my hands up, I have no specific knowledge of either Dendonker nor Mario, like the sound of the Belgian and Inter paid good money for Mario, not that is of relevence

That Delefeou or Shelvey would be absolute shite signings mind, seen enough of both

Rather pitch for Redmond or Lookman as opoosed to that Baca fancy Dan

Re: The transfer window thread
I haven't written him off. Just saying international caps mean fuck all when taken merely at face value and the only reason were getting this bloke is because he's a cheap short term option.

I hope he turns out to be fucking quality, but even if he is, you can bet our owners won't pay the transfer fee Inter want in the summer and it will be another case of 'we tried really hard but...'

Take your pick from any of the following tried and trusted excuses: FFP / no value in the transfer market / Inter moved the goal posts...'

OK, let's write him off then....

Re: The transfer window thread
Why are we upset we did not get Carvalho if we don't want his fellow international midfielder?

stepney hammer 12:00 Wed Jan 24
Re: The transfer window thread
Jose Fonte has about that many caps for Portugal and he has been either shit or injured during his time with us.

International appearances mean fuck all. Carlton Cole even managed to get England caps (yes, plural).

Played 30 times for Portugal but he's not good enough for us?

Fucking hell.

Sullivan has committed to fuck all, he's even reportedly trying to get out of paying the loan fee. Have no doubt this will be a loan till the end of the season and no more.

And this is why were ending up with this Mario bloke, because they can get him on a short term loan paying just his wages for a few months whereas Dendoncker or Shelvey would cost actual money.

All this guff that interest in Dendoncker has been dropped because he played in defence the other day when Pearce went to see him is a load of crap. It's the same story as Carvalho in the summer, they just don't want to pay the money.

Re: The transfer window thread
If what I’ve seen on You Tube is the best of Mario, then what a load of old shit.

We shouldn’t be in this situation in the first place, I remember Bilic saying in the summer that he wants a good attacking midfielder to take the weight of Lanzini. He said he needs help and we shouldn’t expect him to do on his own.

This is the result.

Lily.
This Mario bloke would do well to beat that then given he's already 25. I wouldn't say Bish was the classic attacking midfielder either. More a sit deeper and spray passes around wasn't he?

Love to be proved wrong but this smacks of a typical cheap Sullivan loan-with-an-option-to-be-shit-and-sent-back.

Re: The transfer window thread
Ian Bishop only got 36 goals in his whole career. If the bloke can be a decent playmaker, I wouldn’t worry too much about how many goals he scores.

That’s a big if, I appreciate.

http://www.getfootballnewsfrance.com/2018/bordeaux-president-stephane-malcom-on-diafra-sakho-we-hope-to-conclude-a-deal/

President Stéphane Martin discussed the possibility of signing West Ham United attacker Diafra Sakho this month.

“There are several players that are of interest to us. We would prefer a loan. That would allow us time to reposition ourselves in the summer window. Diafra Sakho is one of the players that we are after. We are hoping to conclude something. For the moment, nothing is done.”

Re: The transfer window thread
Athletico,
He's supposed to be an attacking midfielder isn't he? Only not one with much evidence of attacking if he's only got 17 career goals I'd suggest.

Athletico Easthamico 11:21 Tue Jan 23
Re: The transfer window thread
Just as well he's not a striker then.
