Its means there no chance of any cooperation between the Sunni and Shia big players Saudi and Iran until the embargo of Qatar is lifted

I just came back from a year in Qatar working on Doha Metro. The Embargo is because of Qatar's links to Iran.It is a case of pot kettle black with Saudi saying Qatar fund terrorism.

The Embargo has had no impact on Qatar and I cannot see it ending anytime soon. Its a case of losing face for the rest of the GCC if they back down. That would be the stumbling block for any Saudi using their influence.

The hajj is a nice little earner for the Saudis, and the fact that it's a pilgrimage rather than a package holiday somehow enables them to avoid anything like the expenditure necessary for crowd safety.

The "favour" they're doing the Shi'ites by allowing them to go, is the favour of letting them be ripped off while they risk their lives.

Seriously? We are supposed to let Saudi Arabia off the hook because they disagree with Syrians about how the next Caliph after Mohammed should have been chosen back in 632 AD?

Let me ask you this question: if Sunnis and Shias are such a deadly and explosive cocktail, how do the Shias fulfill their duty under Islam to make the Hajj to Mecca at least once in their lifetime?

Tell you what, I’ll make it multiple choice for you, to make it easy.

A: Shias don’t make the Hajj. They can’t travel to Mecca because it’s in Sunni Saudi Arabia.

B: They make the Hajj perfectly happily every year and there is no trouble whatsoever with the local Sunnis, therefore demolishing Saudi Arabia’s excuse for letting Europe clean up the mess on their Arab, muslim doorstep

MEMO
To: the King of Saudi Arabia

From: Europe

Dear King

This is your shit, not ours.

These are your Arab, muslim brothers and sisters, not ours.

You have unlimited money from running an illegal cartel to force up the oil price. You have unlimited weapons. You have vast areas of empty space where you could re-house all the Syrians.

This has nothing to do with us. You are the regional superpower. Sort. It. Out.

Thanks.
Europe

I think a measure of a country's government is whether it can conduct a sensible foreign policy that satisfies its citizens' interests, even if those interests are not exactly what sells papers for the likes of Rupert Murdoch.

Saw that. A tabloid story and not a very juicy one but its all fair game for Trump. (Is the last line some straw-grasp at journalistic dignity?)

Definitely need to trust these guys with real stories.

Nice to see the Guardian is now reduced to publishing naked propaganda without even the suggestion of 'news' to disguise it.

Re: Fusion GPS testimony on Trump released
The point is we are involved because of the people dislocated by the poverty, terror and ecological degradation. So we might as well find the resources and the personnel to deal with the problem at source.
