Moyes contract situation?
Should we offer Moyes a new contract now? Personally i think the six month original contract was yet another major mistake from Sullivan. I believe Moyes was always the guy they wanted before Bilic or at the very least high on the wanted list so why not show faith in the guy and give him a proper contract when he was appointed?

Should he get a new contract, personally he was not the guy i wanted but he has done pretty well i guess, but has he done any better than most premiership managers should do with our squad, Iíd say heís done maybe a bit above average.

We are in the middle of a transfer window and apparently we are desperate for players particularly in midfield. Letís say we buy 2 and spend £30m (Yes Sullivan the tight f-cker will cry all the way to the bank!) Now what happens if at the end of the season we get a new manager, will that manager want those 2 new players, will he have different ideas on how we should play and who fits that scheme? If thatís the case we could be wasting our money right now as the players may end up sitting on the bench declining in value.

If youíre a player at present would you want to come to West Ham, we are just above the relegation zone, the manager who wants you now maybe gone in 6 months time, itís hardly a stable situation to come into, so unless itís a big step up for that player coming to West Ham i canít see us as a great place to come to. If youíre a Dendoncker for instance, giving Moyes a proper contract has to help recruit him.

Lastly if we donít offer Moyes a contract soon if i was him and another decent offer came to manage another decent club I guess he may take it as heíll want some stability. At present with a 6 month contract he canít feel that wanted or stable at West Ham. Itís pretty clear with Moyes statement ď I can manager any club anywhereĒ that was him sending an advert out to clubs worldwide to say hey look i am available and doing wellĒ

"...so who else in the PL would be a step up or a better option and looking for a manger in the summer???"

Have you thought that by the end of the season Everton might be looking for a decent manager?

Blimey. Untwist your knickers.

The OP only asked the question of whether you would extend his contract now or wait.

I don't see much slagging off of board.

New contract once we are safe from relegation. No need to wait for the season to finish.

Not Moyes but, Ginge is signing a one year extension today. Good move by us.

Spot on with both both points.

Re: Moyes contract situation?
The situation is very simple, if he keeps us up, he gets a longer contract, if we go down he is waved goodbye.

Either way, there will be no bigger job on offer for him, certainly not at a club with more potential, as previous to us he had 5 years of failure, he's not exactly going to replace Wenger is he?

Re: Moyes contract situation?
Danny Kelly was talking about this on talksport at the weekend and he said that Stuart Pearce (who he used to do a programme with) only agreed to come to take up the coaching job as it was a long term contract.... Kelly said Pearce had told him he wouldn't have come if it had just been a six month contract.

Make of that what you will.

Yet another mistake by Sullivan!

FFS, as much as the bloke has been a bit of a cunt, had he signed him on a 2 or 3 year deal and it didnt work, you would be on here bellyaching about it and stinking of urine.

Seems to suit all parties that this deal is to the end of the season, and lets not forget we are what 5 points off a relegation spot, long way to go to be safe, done well so far but hardly guaranteed.

And you think Moyes in some off the cuff comment that he could manage any club anywhere is a CLEAR indication that he is advertising himself do you, bwahahahahaha

And just who would come in for him? A top 6 side, apart from Arsenal i think all managers look pretty safe to me, Le Arse will want a bigger more proven name than Moyes IMO, think Europe is not on his radar, so who else in the PL would be a step up or a better option and looking for a manger in the summer???

Re: Moyes contract situation?
we're not going to get a big name manager because the 'next level' talk is a load of old guff, as evidenced by our transfer activity. Moyes is about as good a club of this size can hope for.

I just had a look, and he left City a couple of years before Mancini came, so forget about that theory.

Re: Moyes contract situation?
Not sure what will happen in the long run but I was not overly pleased when he was appointed but he has certainly done a good job turning that squad around and they were unrecognizable on Saturday. If he gets us playing like that regularly then I hope he stays on as I think he will have earned the right. Next level manager? I guess not but let's face it, at the moment we do not have a next level squad and the owners don't appear to want to finance it to be next level. So, I can't really think who is out there and available who could do a better job to David Moyes at the moment.

Re: Moyes contract situation?
if Moyes wants to leave for Everton in the summer then he will.
however it wont come to this.

the current situation is mutually beneficial - we get premeir league safety with minimal outlay on the manager front, and get in the man they've wanted for a while in the summer.
Moyes rebuilds his reputation and gets his pick of mid table PL teams next season.

Re: Moyes contract situation?
Moyes doesn't strike me as a man with an ego, in fact at Man Utd he looked like a man with the world on his shoulders.
