Giggs. Does he deserve the Wales job?
My reaction is a resounding no.

No real experience or qualifications (apart from being Welsh and a very good player) for a job this big.

Surely there are plenty infinitely more qualified managers out there? It's not a bad job at the moment. They have some decent players.

It's long been a gripe of mine that he seems to think he just deserves a top management job without having to work his way up the ladder, and I don't see anything in him that suggests he really has what it takes. From that series about the non league team they bought, he seemed the least interested and the one bringing the least to the party opinion or brain wise. I've read a few articles about him not considering lower league jobs which just smacks of entitlement.

Am I selling him short or is it a bit ridiculous that he just seems to have been handed on a plate quite a high profile job? It didn't work out well for Neville in Spain when he was just given a big job on the strength of being a decent pundit, it seems. Giggs isn't even that.

Will he be good for Wales or will it blow up spectacularly?

Ryan Giggs wore his brothers dressing gown more times than he did a Wales shirt.

A player who skipped Wales duty when it suited him and Alex Ferguson now decides he want to lead the national team. What a joke appointment. Can't see them progressing but other than Pulis who else is there that would want it.

Re: Giggs. Does he deserve the Wales job?
Sky did a documentary called “The Life of Ryan” which followed him round when he was the interim Utd Manager after Moyes got sacked. About 20 minutes in it shows Giggs doing a team talk to the squad the day before their last game of the season away at Southampton.

That 2 minute clip told me everything I need to know about his managerial credentials. The bloke will be an epic failure at Wales and will be an epic failure as a manager. He is a dullard, personality-less dumb wanker. That shags his own family members.

If he's planning a career in management, Wales is much like starting at the bottom. For obvious reasons, he'll be motivated to do well with them. He'll have access to player's wives, which will suit him.
He's also part black, so no quota issues for the FAW.

Completely unqualified and a cunt of a man, but as Sven said earlier, international football is a completely different kettle of fish to club football. You really just need to rev up your players for a handful of important games a year, as opposed to the long grind of a football season.

Re: Giggs. Does he deserve the Wales job?
PD,

It was more his arrogance in thinking he should automatically be interviewed for vacant Prem jobs after coaching for all of 5 minutes.

There are other coaches out there that are plying their trade in the lower leagues hoping to make it to the Prem either with the club they're with or being on the radar of Prem clubs.

Giggs needed to have earned his stripes in the lower leagues rather than thinking that being Van Gaals tea boy for a season qualified him for any vacant Prem job.

Did Speed deserve it? Did Coleman? Did Maradona deserve the Argentina job? Klinsmann Germany, Van Basten the Dutch gig, and so on..

Re: Giggs. Does he deserve the Wales job?
Fergie knows him better than most and yet has never really backed him to get any of the jobs he has gone for or linked with - none of the decent ones anyway

Heard that on talksport over the weekend and thought its a very fair point

Wales have hit there peak they'll be in decline and fall into international obscurity. You could have Tom Jones manage them and still have the same result

Re: Giggs. Does he deserve the Wales job?
About as deserving as Southgate getting the England job IMO.

Gone are the days when the national side was managed by a very experienced and successful manager, there all too busy and well paid elsewere....

Just highlights how international football has fallen, maybe in the future players will be reluctant to play for country as well as club, with so much money at stake owners and managers may even encourage them not too or even have it in contracts.

Re: Giggs. Does he deserve the Wales job?
Who knows he might do a very good job.

Apparently Fatih Terim is all about Patriotism and pride he leaves the tactics to his staff he is a bit like a pissed off nationalistic human Mascot getting the players going and riled for war, telling them what to do but not over elaborating on tactics etc, so who knows who deserves to be a manager, although when you think about it no one should become a National manager without any managerial experience. Although one thing is true the players will look up to him with more respect and differently to some old duffer.
