Do we need a striker?
Im not so sure.

Arnie isnt a striker, but still the best forward we have.

Do we need a "Carroll or Hernandez" type of striker? Or do we need a (fast, strong and technically gifted) player who can play in various forward positions?

Same with Fraser at Bournemouth. But they will most likely not sell.

Re: Do we need a striker?
That Ward-Prowse at Southampton looks some player? Yes I know his a good young English player, but what sort of doe would we need to get him? They are a selling club!!

Re: Do we need a striker?
I too don't understand why we don't sell Sakho to Rennes. We don't want to sell him to a rival so sell him abroad. I don't buy the let him rot argument as that does no one any favours. I am sick of him bad mouthing the club that pay him a vast amount of wages when he delivers nothing. He has been injured for a large majority of the time and sulks like a school kid. I think he is a decent player when his head is right but to slag off the club saying he is undervalued is a joke. He signed the contract for the wages they pay him and if he doesn't like it get a better agent. F*ck him off a.s.a.p. as he is a lost cause for us. We are in desperate need to strengthen elsewhere but as usual our inept owners have failed to deliver.

Re: Do we need a striker?
We're looking at Nasri as a Lanzini replacement.

Yeah the Sakho busniness needs to be cleared up but I assume offers coming are taking the piss. Clubs will take advantage of the fact he wants to leave.

If Chelsea came in with an 80m offer for Arnautovic what would we do? That's not an impossible scenario as well.

Re: Do we need a striker?
I think it would make a change if we had a striker that:

a) Was a proper striker
b) Regularly scored goals
c) Didn't get injured regularly
d) Was mentally stable

Just be nice wouldn't it?

Re: Do we need a striker?
I don't understand why we're rejecting bids for Sakho?

He clearly has no future at the club so what is the point in keeping him and greedily holding out for a stupid offer?

We'll end up with him sitting in the reserves paying his wages for another 6 months whilst his value rapidly diminishes.

We should be grateful that there are clubs willing to take a punt on him, let along for the reported £10m.

Re: Do we need a striker?
Not before the end of the season. I'd prefer to see if Moyes can turn around players like Chica and Ayew as he did with Arnie.

Re: Do we need a striker?
Obviously at least 1 central midfielder who can defend pass a football is needed as an absolute priority, next in line someone to link play with a forward as well as a striker. Consider Arnautovic getting injured - Carroll out for the season as per usual, Sakho definitely can't be relied on, Antonio has become injury prone, that would leave us with Hernandez who is probably the last striker in world football who fits with the clear style of play that Moyes favours.

I'd move Sakho on and buy a big pacey forward, or even loan one to see us through to the summer.

Re: Do we need a striker?
Sakho, Carroll and even Ayew are hopeless cases. Should not be counted in any plan whatsoever.

But what to replace with. Lanzini/Arnie type of players or Benteke/Llorente type of players.

I say attacking midfielders. So thats, Messi, Salah, DeBruyne, Coutinho etc we should be aiming at :-)

Re: Do we need a striker?
No, we have a fucking hatful of them already. We need a DM and some creativity in midfield.

Re: Do we need a striker?
I guess a lot depends on what happens with Sakho. I mean are we selling him or not?

I think Moyes has already said we're not going to sell him unless we have a replacement. But it's 22nd already ffs so we better act soon.

Re: Do we need a striker?
no. why would we need another striker when the manager likes playing without one

ornchurch ammer 2:38 Mon Jan 22
Re: Do we need a striker?
Yes. Definitely.

Our most effective up front are arguably Arnautovic, Antonio and Lanzini.

Antonio hadn't got a goal and is injured.
Lanzini currently injured.
Arnautovic having a purple patch.
Hernandez is a penalty box poacher.

Need to get rid of Carroll, Sakho and Ayew and bring in someone who is tall, pacy and knows where the goal is.

Iron Duke 2:23 Mon Jan 22
Re: Do we need a striker?
Someone who fits our system would be a forward who is strong enough and with plenty of movement - along the lines of Sakho or Bellamy. I agree that a conventional poacher or target man is probably not what we need.

Re: Do we need a striker?
What we need is another creative midfielder in the mould of Lanzini tgat can share the workload of Many.

We have one in Haksabanovic yet he's not played any time other than the Bolton game at which he looked good.

He should start v Wigan but won't.. so what was the point of buying him ?
