Antonio
Seems like the forgotten man on here at the moment - nobody is talking about him. Is this just because he is out injured? Or is it rather because he has fallen so far from his best and been so ineffective this season when he has played, that we barely have a sense of missing him when he is unable to play. Does anyone have any idea what's going on? Some were saying he was overweight, others were saying it was all in his head. Will he be back soon or is he badly crocked?

Re: Antonio
Some people just want to sell him because he wasn't enthusiastic about their hewo Bilic's idiotic plan to turn him into a right back.

Probably got a bit overconfident with his England cap and HOTY

I don't think I've ever seen a player lay down on the pitch who has not been injured

Re: Antonio
A solitary England cap would suggest that he isn't really that good, plus you never hear any rumours of the big boys sniffing around him?

Re: Antonio
I'd sell him for enough to buy Messi, and pay Messi enough to make him want to come.

I wouldn't sell him for something paltry like £15mn.

*remembers when £15mn wasn't to be described by "paltry" under any circumstances*

Let's just accept that he died chasing a shit clearance from a reserve goalkeeper. Move on.

Yea I do think that. And I base it on a 10 year career rather than the 20 games you base it on

Re: Antonio
In his first season he controlled the ball excellently. Long crossfield balls to him off the chest or a flick of his foot and he was off, skinning full backs. He is unpredictable, in how he beats players, but he usually controls the ball well.

His passing and decsion making, however, often leave a lot to be desired at the best of times.

When fit, he'll be a welcome return, as far as I'm concerned.

>>> If he's one of the best at the club, Alex, then surely you want him sold in the summer while his stock is as high as it is?

And it was a suggestion I put forward before last Summer (sadly he was injured throughout it). That given his age and combative style there might be a limit to how much further he can progress, and that it might have been the right time to take a clever profit and reinvest. I have no problem selling good players as long as you back yourself to find better value to replace them.

Hopefully we’ll see him and Hernandez together, while Arnautovic is out.

I think the thing is with Bubba Gump is that his brain does not know what his feet are going to do… he’s a pretty brainless footballer and relies a lot on instinct… works sometimes .. sometimes does not…

If he could control a football, he wouldn't be too bad.

Do you seriously think that? Our top scorer last season. Hoty in 2017, runner-up to Payet in 2016? Just 'not very good'? To me that's absurd.

Antonio definitely has weaknesses as well as strengths. But I'm still pretty sure that when fit he's one of the best players at the club. Not saying much with the current squad I know, but let's be positive.

It's also the correct answer

Antonio will now be rushed back and will be laying in A&E for 12 months after the palace match
I am basing this on the vibe on the site at the moment as it seems the west ham world is coming to an end
seriously relax the owners will make 4 excellent perm signings before Palace match

Re: Antonio
He had a rib injury and then a groin injury. That's probably what was going on. Sometimes the simplest answers are the best.

Re: Antonio
In this case I don't think there's much scapegoating going on, Alex. More a case of asking reasonable questions about what is going on with a player who seems a shadow of his former self.
