France to re-introduce National Service
French President Emmanuel Macron is re-introducing compulsory national military service for young people in France, the government said today.

By bringing back national service two decades after it was scrapped, Macron is fulfilling one of his campaign pledges.

During his presidential campaign, Macron promised to make all young people spend a month getting 'a direct experience of military life with its know-how and demands'.

A month? What's the fucking point?

Train youngsters to use guns.In my opinion that's always a good idea.

Re: France to re-introduce National Service
Good luck to them with that one - considering it was scrapped here because it was viewed as a waste of time and money by the services.
Young ones today can't even respond to a polite request to do something so I'm fucked they aren't going to take orders from anyone

That's another 40,000 added to the French civil service just to try and manage the process, then...

'Bring it back for everyone 16-18 who isnt going to Uni.

Would solve alot of problems.'

It would solve the problem of 16-18 year olds going into 6th form.

It is already compulsory for 16-18 year olds to either be studying at college (therefore a strong possibility they are going to Uni) or have some kind of working apprenticeship.

Your policy idea is only 10 years out of date.,

Re: France to re-introduce National Service
I know a load of people who did this back in the days when it was 2 years/18 months. Apart from the odd jammy fucker who went off with the Chasseurs Alpins, the most pointless load of cunt of all time.

One of my MATES spent 18 months driving a lorry round in circles in his regiment's barracks in order to ensure they consumed their full quota of petrol, so as not to see a reduction imposed in the following years. I'm not fucking kidding either.

A month ? Pointless gesture politics cuntery.

Bring it back for everyone 16-18 who isnt going to Uni.

In other words, stop bunking off school, learn, work hard, or go in the army.

Would solve alot of problems.

Maybe if we brought it back for 2 years they'd stop building squat camps on the French coast

Why did France nearly kill you, if you were in Vietnam....?

Re: France to re-introduce National Service
I like France, but they nearly killed me.

Stepped out of a Vietnamese restaurant, and had to step back in sharpish, as a car shot past, on the pavement. One more drink, and I would've been too slow.

Great country, France. It must really hurt some people to know that.

Fuck me that'll be the slowest, laziest army in existence. As Micky Flannagan said of the horse-strangling cunts the reason they eat snails is that they are the only animal they can catch

Re: France to re-introduce National Service
I was an air cadet as a teenager. From that I learnt a few things like how to disassemble/reassemble an old 303 rifle, drill (marching in formation), some stuff about planes, and some military discipline stuff (I still keep my hair short and I still tend to stiffen up when talking to a manager, and I don't mean get a stiffy..) I also realised that under no circumstances would I ever join the military.
I don't think it would be a bad thing to include it as part of the school system, rather than have national service for adults when they should be working..
