My Mums English and I couldn’t give a fuck about them. It’s very much personal opinion and you have to respect people backgrounds and choices

My dad was Irish and I couldn't give a fuck about them.

Re: Rice called up for Ireland
I've got 3 out of 4 grandparents who were MICKS so I'd definitely play for them as that's a lot of my bloodline.

My dad's old man's side is the only east London links in my family. And there's WOP on that side as well.

Still, I'd much rather play for England - as I'm culturally English, of course, which means a lot more than ethnic background for me - but the MICKS are part of me too.

Well he he does have Irish bones if both of his Paternal Granparents are Irish. I was born and bred in Essex but My Dads family are from Dublin a stone throw from Landsdowne Road. I used to get all the shirts, programmed etc sent over and have been to games over there so grew up supporting West Ham and Ireland the same as my Dad. When I was 7 watching World Cup 90 I just cheeed for who my Dad was cheering for. Each to their own though. Mark Noble has 2 Irish Grandparents but considers himself 100% English. If your born to an Irish Parent abroad your automatically an Irish citizen.

I'm eligible for England, Wales, Ireland and Northern Ireland.
Not Scotland though.
Which is unfortunate, as even though I'm 47, 4 stone overweight and fucking shit at football, I'd probably still make the Scotland squad.

bushey - being an England player is pretty toxic these days, don't you think? Quite apart from all that, it's not as if we're likely to win anything any time soon. Bit of a no-brainer.

Collyrob ... have been saying this for last 12m ... can see it happening and would love him to captain West Ham & Ireland

Bushey: not unusual at all and I know my kids have great pride in their Irish and English heritage... but would firstly choose to play for Ireland. Of course being born in a stable doesn’t make you a horse !

Re: Rice called up for Ireland
Quite why anyone would chose playing for Ireland over England if born and raised here is beyond me.

However, good luck to the lad. He seems a decent down to earth kid.

Sean Maguire - Eastenders

Seani Maguire - Prolific Irish footballing goalscorer ignored by Allardyce. In fact I doubt whether the shitbag walrus ever watched him down the training ground. Preston will probably sell him for a higher fee than Hugill. If we get relegated we could reunite the two next season!

Re: Rice called up for Ireland
Good news, pleased for him.

Fingers crossed he doesn't get injured.

For those asking why he wouldn't prefer to play for England, putting aside likelihood of actually playing, England underperform.

England gets pilloried by the media and fans. Players get counted off by opposing supporters in Prem league because of their performance playing for England.

Could be a factor.

Well done Rice, great news and well deserved.

Sean Maguire however I haven't seen anything of since he left Eastenders? Fair play to him though, must be at least 40 now!

Out of the 2 country's whose he more likely to get a prolonged spell in the side? not a tough question to answer, bit like that McTominay (sic) kid whose picked Scotland over England.
