Birds don't fart
|
According to Dani Rabiotti (reviewed in New Scientist)
Wind in the willows
When zoologist Dani Rabaiotti’s teenage brother asked her whether snakes fart, she was stumped. So she asked on Twitter, and snake expert David Steen informed her that they do. Soon, the internet was abuzz with enquiries about animal flatulence, adorned with the hashtag #doesitfart? A year later, Rabaiotti has co-authored a book titled Does It Fart?, offering an definitive guide to animals’ rear-end gas emissions, which goes on sale in the US this week. Here are a few things it tells us. • Rabbits can suffer from a gas build-up called intestinal stasis, which can quickly become fatal if the gas isn’t released properly.
• When startled, zebras begin to run and the motion propels gas from their body, causing them to fart loudly with each stride.
• An insect called the beaded lacewing farts on its prey, termites, to stun and kill them.
• There are nearly 10,000 species of bird, but none of them fart.

I swear my Mrs could end the energy crisis, if we could learn to harness the gas she releases. If it’s just us, she knows no shame. As sadistic as any bloke.
I should have known.....I’ll share......Immediately after the very first time we made love, in an Oslo apartment, back in July 1997, before saying anything else, I held up my hand and said “Pull my finger.” All innocent ignorance, she pulled. I let rip, impressively. She burst out laughing. Deep down, I then knew we would make a family and live happily ever after.

Interesting geep, maybe because they defecate between 15 and 50 times per day depending to size. Helps them fly apparently. Although they can be potty trained.

I was with an ex-bird once, was in our hotel room and I went for a leak, for some reason she thought I'd left the room and she left off a rasberry..I actually felt for her when I emerged from the shitter, embarrassed would be an understatement.

Dogs fart but silently. Because we stand upright our anuses have to have a much tighter seal, hence we blow a raspberry.

Seems surprising due to their diet. Surely the break down of the food would produce methane?

My missus still acts surprised and apologies when she lets a little one go. We’ve been married 12 years.
I on the other hand comment, rate and congratulate myself about a dozen times a day
