Richarlison - £50 million quid
|
I know prices always rise and the Neymar deal kind of rewrote the rules, but on what planet is this guy worth 50 million? Seems crazy to me and he looks pretty unspectacular.
I feel largely the same about Alisson. Is he or any keeper actually worth the amount Liverpool are paying? All feels a bit bonkers.

Could make Anderson a bit of a steal
Every few years you have transfers which shift the market...Carroll to Liverpool, Torres to Chelsea, Oscar to China, now this....
Expect some massive fees being paid next few weeks as clubs panic and scramble. Makes our business look even more astute.

Everton are beginning to get a little bit over concerned about what West Ham/leicester are doing in the window.
They see us both as potential threats to a Euro spot for 2019/20 as do their "we're a miles bigger club than those two" fans..

Wouldn’t swap him for Antonio I’m just glad we’re not buying him full stop let alone sounding 50 million quid

Its all piss and thunder Read between the lines and you will see that Watford had a £15m+ case against Everton for illegal tapping of Silva This deal proposal includes a cessation of that claim and with it, not only financial but other potential sanctions

Hardly a good strike ratio...5 in 41 at Watford... Surprised he got a Work permit...possibly through Portuguese ancestry passport...not by international pedigree... 50million...not onWarltford displays I saw... Hahaha...

Yeah. In today's market you'd say that's definitely less of a stretch! Is that what it's going to be?

Didn't realise he was only 21. Probably still 20m too much. I'm happy for Everton to be spunking money up the wall like this, I want them to fucking collapse. The shithouses.

Only £50m?
Everton are expected to finalise the £40m signing of 21-year-old Brazilian forward Richarlison from Watford on Monday. (Liverpool Echo)

I've only seen Richarlison on MOTD. His game was excellent but finishing rubbish but as I say, based on MOTD which is not ideal way to judge players. What I didn't realise as that all last season he was only 20 and has just turned 21 in May. He could prove a bargain for only £50m.....

£50 million, even at my age and with a dodgy knee I could still be worth £3.36.

Ultimately clubs have to buy players, so I sympathise with the decision-making they're forced into. Whether your Brands or Husillos or anyone else, you're employed no doubt with a remit to take your club forward in the short-term, so the better investments that might take longer to show their worth are out. Hence you just bet on whatever's knocking around at the higher prices in an attempt to cover your arse.
You want the shortest odds possible and that probably means you're going to overpay. And as pointed out, the odds on Richarlison really hitting the big time might not even be particularly high. So clubs making these sort of decisions are pushed towards older surer bets with less long-term upside. It's absurd really but you can see how it happens.
Clubs imo need to show more vision and imagination, and take a longer-term view. Easier said than done. From a DoF's point of view, changing the way a business does business is incredibly difficult to justify to bosses.
