They have options and can do much better than Neil Lennon. They're a huge club, even if they are stifled by the league they play in, so getting a talented manager in won't be a problem as the Celtic job will be a platform to bigger things as the manager will have to balance demanding supporters, toppling Rangers and progressing in Europe.
The problem for Celtic is a resurgent Rangers who look the business. As I said in my post below, don't judge Rangers on results against the smaller clubs in the SPFL, judge them on games against Celtic and in Europe.
Gerrard has done an amazing job, Rangers play open football and he'll do okay when he comes back down south. I wouldn't hesitate to give him a go here if the opportunity comes when Moyes project is finished, because the job be has done at Rangers is remarkable.

Steve Clarke is Scotland manager & taking them to the Euros in 3 months. Can't believe he'd leave that for a club that wins 9 titles in a row & turns on their manager at the first sign of a poor season.
I'd LOVE it to be Frank Lampard

''Steve Clarke and Enzo Maresca in the running. Both assistants to Managers here, so a West Ham connection. You’d have to be pretty underwhelmed as a Celtic fan with those choices''
Completely disagree. Clarke is a very good coach.

Lambert might be a good bet. He played for Celtic for many years, and has 40 odd Scottish caps. No compensation for Celtic to pay either.

The Scottish leagie is pony, but has a few things going for it over the prem so a shame the quality isn't there.
Players don't constantly cheat, you can still actually put in hard tackles without people wetting themselves and fouls being given, better refs who don't throw their toys around and no var.
Just a shame only 2 teams ever compete.

Saw a mate on Saturday morning, casual villa fan (I’m living up in Cheltenham at the moment), randomly we got on to the conversation of the next Celtic manager....
“Paul Lambert” he said.
“Not a chance” was my reply, he even looked a bit confused when I said he was a shit washed up jock struggling in league 1 mid table with Ipswich, not sure he really knew.
After the news today, I just messaged him asking if it was a tip or a guess. He said it was a tip from a random tradey he met on a job last week, he limped on at 40s just in case, can still get 10s now, got to be worth a couple of quid given the history and circumstances...

When I was growing up in the sixties the only noteworthy thing about Scottish football was the regular tonkings.

Scottish teams in the Premier league feels further away than ever at the moment. GOOD
Hopefully Scotland & Wales both get independence & the Welsh teams can get purged too.

Frankly I don't care for Scottish football a bit. However growing up with a staunch Catholic mother other than West Ham i was effectively 'ordered' to have a soft spot for Celtic. Subsequent years have of course dulled that. However I do believe that if 'God forbid' they ever get into the English Premier League then Celtic would benefit greater than Rangers. Purely because of the exposure that they would receive in America. Saying that I hope it never happens and both teams can continue to rot in the joke shop league in Scotland.

I think all of that is true, aside from Rangers who are culturally and politically an abberation in Scotland.

Growing up, it always seemed to be rangers who won the titles every year (the mccoist years) so I was more interested in Celtic and wanting them to win. Then they ended up with the likes of Larssob and nakamura and were really good to watch
Now though I think this season is hilarious. It’s unfathomable how awful they’ve become. They may have been on the verge of ten titles in a row but most of those were won without any competition at all. Last season was the first time rangers had built up a decent enough team to start to try to challenge and the lube carried this into this season and Celtic have totally crumbled
And they have Scott brown who is a total shit of a player

There's little doubt that, if you put the Sky money behind Celtic and Rangers, and allowed them into the Premier League, both clubs would be huge.
But that's all aunties and uncles. It ain't going to happen.
If anything over the past 25 years, Scotland has moved further away from England culturally and politically, so the idea that their best clubs could play in England, at the expense of big and well-established English clubs, is laughable.
In theory, though, both Glasgow clubs would be big players inside the Premier League. Fan bases, merchandising, sponsorship - all the add-ons that turn mid-ranking clubs (by revenue) into the bigger fish.

I suppose anyone mildly interested in football would find the potential for a Gerrard v Lampard between the old firm something to look forward to.
I hate Lampard and Celtic and so would love to see Gerrard and Rangers smash them.
