Declan Rice contract
|
still no news and with only 6 months. He can start talking to clubs abroad in a few weeks and I think he's already decided to move when his contract is up.
Moving to a bigger club then he can get his England call up. We should start looking for a replacement tbh

we’ll get it sorted. I’m sure the club are well aware of the situation and calibre of player we are dealing with. The only question is when, sooner rather than later and certainly no later than end of this season.

His contract doesn't run out until mid 2020 so he isn't going anywhere. Why all the panic? The club said they'll look at it at the end of the season. We can't just keep upping the wage bill unless we shift some expensive dead wood or raise a lot more income. Maybe if a high earner goes in January it might be a consideration but I would think the summer is the best time.
He's young and has plenty of time to earn the mega money after several consistent seasons. Plenty of examples at West Ham of players whose performances have dropped off since new contracts were given to them. He seems like a good lad so hopefully both parties will find a deal which suits.

Mind your business? Young prospect at tail end of contract is anyone's business, that's the problem

vexed, I doubt he'd be asking for any more than what foden got but with the extras it may hit £40k but that would probably mean us winning something or getting in europe

I didn't, was just saying he isn't after what matic is on which I think is about £120k a week. declan falls behind matic in regard to pass completions but is as good in regard to interceptions & blocks, and has made more tackles than matic. funniest stats though in regard to tackling is anderson and arthur both in the top 20 :.)

So do feel free to share what his exact demands are, Mr ITK.
It has been reported that he's quibbling over 40k plus add ons, which seems more than reasonable but you clearly know better. I'm all ears.

FMOB Miike! Why did you switch our conversation on playing styles to wages?

I agree, and in the last few games it's been noticeable that he looks more comfortable and does venture forward if possible. players like kante are rare though, the only one comparable to him in the last twenty years was makelele

Well ok miike of you say so. Or I might be right and Matic or Kante is exactly the kind of player Rice needs to model his game on instead of becoming a bit like Noble....

I think Declan is comparing himself to players of that ilk with his cunty damands.

you're comparing a teenager in his first full season playing in midfield, to a 30 year old natural midfielder who's got almost fifty caps for Serbia and won three national titles in Portugal and England. a ridiculous comparison

Re: Declan Rice contract

No I'm not. I've watched him quite a bit now and he's terrific by WH standards. I then watched Manure and Matic in particular. The comparison was chalk and cheese.
Obviously I love Rice as he's one of our own but he needs to get a lot better to be top class. I think he is copying Noble who doesn't have the pace to get tackles in unless the opponent has poor control. Watching Matic he got a foot into most challenges and had far better general play. Rice has the same kind of quality but he needs to lift his ambitions to what the likes of Matic or Lante achieve and not Noble.....

Assuming he wants to be a Hammer, the longer he lets his performances do the talking, the better a deal he'll get from the club (everyone involved is on the ball here, right?).

None of us really know how this works. My guess is that the club don’t want another Reece Oxford situation and tried to sort out a contract accordingly. Remember he was dropped. He looks the part but with us having the option of extending all parties probably want to wait until summer and sort properly then. He will be in a much better position to negotiate then if he maintains or indeed improves his form and we will be more willing to agree terms.

Phil Foden signed a 6-year £30k PW deal at Manchester City last week. That's BASIC, loads of performance add-ons. Says the Daily Mail.
They didn't mention whether Meghan Markle is on more or not.
