My son is thinking of buying a signed replica England shirt from 1966

My 13 year old football mad son is thinking of buying an England replica shirt signed by Martin Peters and Geoff Hurst with the money he got for Christmas. It's £125

I have a world cup pic of Peters just after he had scored signed by the team except for Bobby,
Also 5 ticket world cup 66 wembley ticket stubs including the final.
All worth a few bob so i'm told but will leave them to my son.

I've got a signed Geoff Hurst West Ham shirt in a frame. It's a modern replica 1960's shirt. Someone gave it to me, not that keen on it.

It won’t hold it’s value at all, there are literally thousands out there, and for people banging on about “ i met Geoff Hurst, he’s very down to earth, he was....he wants £20 an autograph now or he won’t sign anything at all.
£125 won’t get him a piece of football related memorabilia that will go ip a lot including inflation.
He’s better off saving his money.
1923 original FA Cup final programs are going for good money, i had 3 which I bought cheap i the 80’s, i sold 2 in the last 5 years pulling in over 1k profit
Since Euro 96 Hurst & Peters have literally signed thousands of items.. that market is swamped already.

I remember back in the 90's meeting both Martin Peters and Geoff Hurst at a client's office to discuss an advertising campaign. Lovely down to earth blokes who still worked every day unlike modern ex-footballers.
Hurst & Peters were less celebrities and more working blokes that just happened to win the World Cup. They supplied my client's business with HP and insurance services iirc? So when the client wanted someone to open a showroom he looked no further than the reps for their finance and insurance suppliers. I guess Hurst & Peters got a lot of business in that area due to their fame.
I was introduced to them as the World Cup winners that would be at the grand opening party. My firm did the launch advertising campaign for a new showroom somewhere in Sussex, using radio,TV and press in East Sussex area iirc?
My how the world has changed....

If it’s genuine, it’s well worth the money, especially as it’s him that wants it. He will hopefully hand it to his son or grandson one day, and say “Know your history, and here’s a slice of it.”

Cheers Huffers, just what I thought. I think it's more about him having something up on his wall that is from the country he comes from (we live in Denmark) Apart from his cousins and uncles etc and the Hammers he has no real connection with England.
I thought I'd put it in a nice frame with a couple of goal scoring pictures. If nothing else it will reinforce his belief that West Ham won the world cup :-)

It’s authentic. Not a great deal but ok. Peters won’t be signing any more autographs. It’ll hold its value but won’t rocket due to the sheer amount of it out there.
