Arise, Sir Alistair
Apart from a (posthumous) knighthood for our very own Bobby I can’t think of anyone else who deserves one more.

Nice one Cooky SON

In theory, only one overseas player, per county, is allowed for the County Championship and One day comps (2 for T20). Of course this excludes EU citizens and Kolpak players.)

I like good overseas players in English cricket. Good for the game. It seem to me a lot of Kolpak players are nothing special, no better than your average county player.

Unfortunately I'm old enough to have seen the likes of Viv Richards, Joel Garner, Ken McEwan, Alan Border and many others in the flesh, at Essex.

I don't know how the Kolpak situation will pan out post Brexit, but assuming it goes, I'd allow two overseas players per county, for all competitions, but with a restriction they must have played a certain number of tests/one day games in a preceding period, for their own country.

English players will come up against the best, which should help the development of their game.

Too many I agree Kiwi guy.

However we won Div 1 in 2017 with a LOT of locals forming the nucleus of the team though. Sometimes 9 or 10 East London / Essex boys on the field.

#27 Tendo is a plastic Dutch Saffa who has spent all his pro career on the books with us. In fact we discovered him and offered him a trial. He is a PROPER honorary Essex man.

Not including Tendo that suggested team below has 6 homegrown players. Not enough for my liking but, looking at the whole squad compared to a lot of other counties, we are still very much a local club.

Bloody hell, how many foreigners are you allowed in one team?

That's almost as bad as the England rugby team.

Sven's alright for a MATE.

I want all three convicted convicts back for Edgbaston.

Bit of cloud cover. Win the toss. Put them in.

Let the Hollies Stand mentally disintegrate them.

Our boys won't need to say a word, their only problem will be trying not to laugh disrespectfully.

#26 SIR CHEF could well open in the blast that same night against Hampshire.

Think if he does play whackball this year he will surprise a few.

Personally I'd have him lower in the order. Maybe

One thing is for sure, we won't be as shit in t20.as we were in 2018 because that's impossible.

SpazfaceAgent giving someone shit about posting endless boring details?

*Irony Meter goes into overdrive*

On the flipside, I feel a bit sorry for Sven. Literally all his country has to brag about right now is netball.

And AFL.

And the hope that his scummy, cheating, disgraceful former captain and vice captain can come back and save the day.

You seem to be suffering from a severe case of attempted deflection.

My own tedious posts about Brexit on the Brexit thread are answered by many other equally tedious cunts.

I don't, however, insist on posting the endless boring details of Brexit on a thread about, say, German sausage or Spanish cheese.

Nobody engages with your posts about domestic Australian cricket at all, except to tell you to fuck off and quit posting them. If you must post them, post them on a somewhat relevant thread.

We get it. You're an Aussie and like most of your dullard, hick countrymen, especially the millions over here that couldn't wait to get out, you're a bit ashamed of it and feel the need to tell everyone how great Australia is because you know, deep inside, it's really a bit shit. It's the national inferiority complex personified. That doesn't mean we should have to put up with your never-ending drivel, though.

Now, fuck off back to the Ashes 2019 thread where everyone can ignore you for 6 months.

Nice try.

But my complaint was clearly directed at your constant drivel about Australian matches v India, Australian state matches, even fucking Australian grade cricket. None of these things are remotely related to Alistair Cook or sporting gongs.

Who on earth do you think is interested in this shit?

Stupid cunt.

Blimey
Being heckled by someone who has made 20,000 posts on Brexit
And the bloke whose Mod suit has elasticated trousers

It’s a thread about Cook.
Just curious about how many Ashes Tests he lost. Most ever ? More than Jimmy Anderson?
Nothing to do with being captain
I understand Ponting won 108 Tests if you are asking

Sven, and your point is?
Didn't Ricky Ponting lead Australia into more ashes defeats than any other captain? Still a wonderful batsman

Has he lost more Ashes Tests than any other player to have played the game?

This thread is about Sir Alistair Cook, Kt and may possibly be extended to talk of sporting gongs in general.

Needed to win the toss and bat today
As at Melbourne

With Smith & Warner and no Kohli and Pujara Australia would be 3-0 up
Actually if all 4 were there they'd be 3-0 up
Both will return for the Ashes
