Small worlds
Always amazes me whem you bump into random folk who live/lived near you. I was in Perth last month and one day a DHL van yurns up with parcel for my birds son. I go out to sign for it,got talking to the driver and it turns out that he emigrated from village called Binfield which is 1.5 miles down the road from me.

My old man lived in Turkey for 10 years and drank in a local pub on Sundays watching premier league football. This boozer was run by a ex pat hammer eho became good mates with my Dad over the years. I found out that the bloke used to sit 3 rows behind and 5 seats along from me in the old Chicken run (upper) seats.

Lastly,on the flight home last month i was queing up for the loo, started chatting to a bloke who lived 500 yards round the corner from me.

Any more of that ilk?

Re: Small worlds
Years back I was on a family holiday in Spain. It was the last day, we were sitting around the pool when I noticed a family that lived near us. I couldn't stand them but, because our kids were the same age as their kids we crossed paths socially now & then. The dad started filming his kids who were in the pool. I couldn't resist getting in and swimming up and down behind them. Would have loved to have seen their faces when they were watching the video at home and saw me swimming about.

I was on a flight back from Barcelona a few months back and I found out that the woman with the 2 kids next to me on the flight live in the same house as me.

Although joking aside this has happened a few times where I've bumped into people I knew all over the place

Re: Small worlds
When I was 40 I found out that I was adopted. I met my mother and brother, who invited me to his wedding. Two years previous to this my wife and I visited my adoptive brother in Islington and was on the underground. I was drawn (not sexually) to an Indian looking lady and her daughter's.
Anyway at my biological brother's wedding my family were introduced to the family I never new I had. My biological mother introduced me to her sister and her daughter's, turns out she was the woman I had seen on the underground three years before.
Furthermore I discovered that my biological grandmother lived in the same building as my wife and I when we got married.
Still further when I met my biological mother she lived just 5minutes walk from my adoptive mother's sister in a different town.

Have read stuff on this before, and surprisingly, the boffins reckon that the odds of bumping into 'somebody' you have a connection with sooner or later, are greater than you might think.

Here's one article on it.

Went to Florida some years ago. Thought I saw a bloke I worked with once in Bristol.in the middle of a crowd at Universal Studios During the same holiday my missus saw a security guard who used to collect wages from her work. TWO years later went again to Florida saw the same bloke in the passport queue and asked him if he went two years earlier he said yes. We went to Busch gardens and as we were on a trolley bus the same security guard was sitting behind us.

Craziest one for me was in a small town in the middle of nowhere while travelling in South West China (Yunnan). Went to a bar run by a couple of Brits, got chatting to the younger co-owner, noticed an Essex accent. Turned out he was from Stanford (my home town) and was in the year above me at a nearby school!

Another was when I was living in Wellington NZ I walked past a girl who looked like someone I went to school with. Didn’t think it possible until I suddenly see a load of pictures of her on holiday in NZ pop up on Facebook.

Loads of times!

I was in walking street Pattaya few years back watching a WHU game, If anyones been there you know how many bars there are.
The area we were in had about 40 bars!
Anyway we score, we all jump up and two blokes end of bar shout out "Irons"
I popped over started talking to them and one of them says "Is your name defjam?"
I'd never met the bloke before but he said he read WHO from time to time and me being a bit 'Tainted' he took a punt!

Was walking along a beach in Goa once and a bloke shouted out, "Oy you're from Gravesend aren't you"

Had a bird tap me on the shoulder in an internet cafe in Byron Bay and say the same.

Maddest one probably was years ago I was talking to a fit bird at a gig we were DJ'ing near Birmingham, anyway I took her details and then she said the B word...boyfriend so I never got in touch.
About a year year i was flying to OZ via Tokyo and I spotted this bird, I thought i hope she's on my flight as she was fit, anyway, didn't see here again but when i got off the plane in Tokyo she came up to me and said "do i know you?"
I didn't remember at first but we spoke and I realised it was the girl from the gig.
I ended up even sitting in the smoking section with her even though I hate smoking and girls who smoke...yes she was that fit!
We boarded again and that was it, I didn't see her again.
I went to my mates wedding in Sydney and we decided to go to Byron Bay for his stag do.
One day we were walking along and someone said lets pop in here for some food etc so we went in this random place and sat upstairs.
I got a tap on the shoulder and it was that bird again, How fucking random, to bump into her in Birmingham, Heathrow, Tokyo and Byron Bay!!
So you're probably thinking she was the ONE, we got married, had kids etc but alas no such luck...We kept in touch but nothing happened...bloody lesbians!

Back in the summer of 1984 I was travelling from Fort Lauderdale to Detroit on a Greyhound bus. Got chatting to the girl sitting next to me, and it turned out she came from Emsworth, just a few miles down the road from Chichester where I was living at the time. When I asked her name I found out she was the sister of a girl who had been in the year below me at Plymouth Poly, where I did my ug degree.
