European Spot?
Can anyone see this happening for us this season?

Looking at the teams around us and especially above, we do not have the same consistency or drive these teams are showing. Especially if you look at Wolves and Watford, they are showing good football and a killer edge. The Bournemouth v Wolves game was an edgy affair this weekend and showed they are in for a fight.

I don't think we are showing that same level, and where we had great momentum before January the Arnie affair has definitely impacted the team. To be honest I see him and his brother actually damaging the team this season, and think Pelle knows this all too well.

So for me, I don't see us getting much return for the 100m invested. Also feel that the team we have this season will be decimated by approaches for our players meaning we will need a much larger investment and to build a new team for next season.

If we had invested in some new players in Jan I feel we would have had much more to build on rather than rely on those wanting out of the team. It really is showing at the moment.

Why to early. European footie will bring in better players.
With the youngsters coming through we will have a big squad to placate. Pellegrini's reputation is on the line.
Even for the amount of injuries we have had we should be higher up the table . Some of our losses have been terrible. Take away 3 of those losses and we would of been sitting comfortably in 7th. Something hasn't worked out in those losses and it's up to Pellegrini to sort it out, tough but that is what he's here for.
The Cup losses were bad enough. I hope he can get everyone up for an inform Newcastle. He did it last time when they won 3 in a row.

And that was part of the double Huddersfield did on Wolves. They were on a run when they faced us, similar to one we had and that prompted the praise.

Make no mistake we have to take at least 10 of 12 points from March fixtures if we want a serious shot at Europe but Wolves and Watford play each other and we play Watford, so realistically we could almost say it is in our hands.

Saturday will be a good indicator as to whether MP's enthusiasm and hunger for European football has rubbed off onto the players.

They should be fired up for Saturday and if the boss is talking 7th then the players need to back that up with some top drawer performances and some fighting spirit.

Sun / Thu football is not so bad at least you know where you are rather than Friday/ Monday which is more disruptive and will happen more to appease the TV companies.

Well get knocked out before the group stage v Astra Guigui for the 3rd time.

If we can't beat Wimbledon there's no point point mid table nice and cozy

Re: European Spot?
We beaten both Arsenal and ManU. Draw against The Pool and the Rent Boys. That would be European form most years. It’s the limp wristed approach against the south coast teams that will fuck us.

Think Wolves picked the same team for the first 8 games or so.
Saying tonight that Burnley have a player unwell so made their first change in 7 games.

Well Wolves have hardly had any injuries, so there is definitely a level of consistency there! And Watford are having a good season. We're still in the mix, have players coming back from injury, so let's see who else gets injured and how much that disrupts us...

Re: European Spot?
I think after 4 games Watford had 12 points to our none so we have 8 points more than them in the last 23 games.
Wolves had a fair head start as well.

‘Looking at the teams around us and especially above, we do not have the same consistency or drive these teams are showing. Especially if you look at Wolves and Watford’

So basically what you are saying is that Watford and Wolves have shown more consistency and drive than us which is pretty bloody obvious as they both have more points than us after 27 games. None of the other ‘teams around us’ have shown more consistency and drive, because if they had they would also have more points than us.

Considering we have lost to Wolves twice and they are only 4 pts ahead of us means we’ve actually picked up 2 pts more than them in the other 25 games and Watford have onlt picked up 1 pt more than us in the 26 games where we havnt played each other.

Basically other than our head to heads which Watford and Wolves have won we’vs been 2pts better than Wolves and 1pt worse than Watford, hardly evidence that they are materially better than us or that we cant come above them. If we beat Watford and Watford beat Wolves we’ve only 2pts to make up on the pair of them between now and the end of the season to come 7th which isn’t exact beyond the realms of possibility

I would much rather we qualified by actually fielding our strongest team and won one of the cups. The thought of Sunday/Thursday football does fuck all for me, though so not really fussed.

Re: European Spot?
if we finally get some luck on the injury front then we will be close.
only 4 points adrift with plenty to play for, hopefully Watford suffer their customary late season collapse.
