Boxing. Any budding past or present WHO Boxers recreational or amateurs
Have took up Boxing over the past 3 months training daily. First exercise in many years. Love it. Have met Kevin Mitchell and Martin "too much" Power and had a couple of sessions trained by them. Started at Islington Boxing Club, proper old school feel and family run.
Its helped with my sporadic depression and mental health , as well as getting fit.
Any Whoers who have boxed at any level or enjoyed training?

Been for the last 6 weeks to a boxing club in Battersea 3 times a week trying to raise fitness levels and drop kgs post a back op, certainly doing that. As a novice the techniques I'm taught the support and encouragement I receive is incredible,, best thing I've done in years.

Yea I could have been a contender, but that all changed when I ate my first doughnut back when I was four.

I do have a wonderful left hook though and my wife knows all about it, that one is for Johnson and Nurse possibly Willtell too.

Not me, I never had the discipline. My grandad is in the Canadian boxing hall of fame though.

A few of you might recall Steven Slade - was U21 Eng international, and had a few games for Spurs and QPR. Well he was a natural athlete and great boxer as well as footballer. Boxed for Barking ABC and would have gone far in the sport, I think, had a unique style akin to the hit'n'miss types.

Done a little bit as a kid. Arbour youth and trained up Repton for a while. Was always better at football though.
Me cousin used to train the youngsters up West Ham years ago, then had the TKO.

I'm not a fighter at all but an uppercut to the opponent's chin was my preferred punch in the very few playground scraps that I got involved in.

Love an uppercut.

Yes, worked out at the Church Elm, years ago when Graham Moughton, after Ken Buchanan, had the pub/gym. A few good people trained there: Benn, McMillan, Terry Marsh, and all I can say is that the guys that made it were the ones that trained the hardest.

I got in a fight with the local hard nut when I was 14 and to the shock of the school I battered him and enjoyed it.

Went along to the boxing gym a few days later and did some basics and loved it joined there and then.

The following week I went to a party and got pissed for the first time. Never went to boxing again and spent the next ten years getting pissed.

I did when younger, enjoyed the training, but fuck its hard, the actual fighting bit i wasn't too keen on, well i was at first but getting punched, even with a head guard isnt much fun as its the body blows that really take it out of you, and win or lose it takes a good week at least to get over it.

Only had the one fight and got pummelled, never got in the ring again, respect to anyone who does.

Similar thing happened to me at judo , beat him in the ring but not in the car park.

Had a few boxing lessions at the Little Eye club but wasn’t for me , preferred martial arts.

Yes was an amateur for Alma ABC in Harold Wood for a few years, 3 fights (2-1).

Now, currently training at Art of Boxing club in Romford with another fight lined up for June so working towards that.

Want another 10 fights over next few years and will call it a day on conpeting front but will always train a few days still. I’m 28 now with a family so always gonna be hard but have to find the time. Exercise is good for you.

Started far too late really, always wanted to do as a youngster but just never did. My only regret in life not walking into a boxing gym sooner when I could’ve potentially got somewhere with it.

When I was 8, I was in a park that was doing games and I fought another 8 year old in a boxing ring. He started crying and the fight was stopped in the first round.

A couple of weeks later about three boys saw me in the street and one said "That's the boy who beat up Colin and they all duffed me up.

I retired from boxing with a 100% record of victories
