Greta Thunberg, what’s the fuss?
Why does everyone seem to want to be in her gang at the moment? It’s embarassing watching MPs and celebrities queuing up to be photographed with her.

It’s very “ cult “ like.

I don’t get the fuss but then I’m a middle aged man who drives a diesel car and regular uses the plane to travel.

Every child absent from school should receive a rather large fine and those fines donated to Climate Charities. I'm sure they won't mind!

Banks and corporations are here. Customers are here. But I get your point which is why their movement had demos in 80 countries.

Then maybe these white middle class blackmailers should be protesting in Ghana not in the UK?

Protesting here won’t change what’s going on in Brazil, India or China.

Like there’s no other way to travel.

Anyway. There are two main issues with CO2. Loss of rain Forrest and use of fossil fuels. Fossil fuel use is a huge challenge due to human progress. Loss of rain Forrest is much more of a questionable act.

Ghana is losing its rainforest faster than any other country in the world . A loss of equivalent of the size of Wales happens each year for beef, sugar, coffee and chocolate.

Interesting question

Apparently, batteries can take up to 12 hours to fully recharge. So it could be the case that if your missus asks you to come home mid morning as your child is sick, it could be a tad tricky.

So in 10 years time let's pretend that all petrol/diesel cars and lorries have been replaced by electric, when we're all tucked up in bed at night with the car plugged into the mains where is all this electricity coming from, wind farms and solar panels?

Re: Greta Thunberg, what’s the fuss?

Why is it you think this is in any way relevant? Is this the kind of nonsense that passes for an argument in the seedier corners of the internet you frequent?

Do you honestly believe that or do you know it’s bullshit and just post it anyway.

It’s difficult to believe that anyone is that stupid.

"The present concentration is the highest in the last 800,000[6] and possibly even the last 20 million years."

Like most of the article, completely unprovable, just made up nonsense.

Like all CC communists and their useful idiots they reach a conclusion, then search for evidence, they only produce evidence that supports their conclusion, ignore other data, manipulate data to support their conclusions and peddle lies.

Even the IPCC has admitted this is not about science, its about redistributing wealth. Extinction rebellion have admitted its not about science, its about taking down capitalism.

People trying to think about science who have no idea.

Re: Greta Thunberg, what’s the fuss?
It’s all very simple really - from Wikipedia

“Global annual mean CO2 concentration has increased by more than 45% since the start of the Industrial Revolution, from 280 ppm during the 10,000 years up to the mid-18th century[2] to 410 ppm as of mid-2018.[4][5] The present concentration is the highest in the last 800,000[6] and possibly even the last 20 million years.[7] The increase has been caused by human activities, particularly the burning of fossil fuels and deforestation.[8] This increase of CO
2 and other long-lived greenhouse gases in Earth's atmosphere has produced the current episode of global warming. About 30–40% of the CO of the CO2 released by humans into the atmosphere dissolves into oceans, rivers and lakes,[9][10] which has produced ocean acidification.”

riosleftsock 11:13 Thu May 2
Re: Greta Thunberg, what’s the fuss?
CO2 is 0.04% of the atmosphere.

Of that, it is estimated (no reliable figures) 3% may be man-made. Of that 3%, less than 1.5% is from UK

Re: Greta Thunberg, what’s the fuss?
There is absolutely no causal link between population and the mismanagement of rain forest resources.
