Pablo Fornals - signed

West Ham United is delighted to announce the signing of highly sought-after Spain international attacking midfielder Pablo Fornals.

A creative, technically-gifted playmaker with an eye for goal, Fornals joins the Hammers from Villarreal, for whom he has excelled in both La Liga and the UEFA Europa League.

Fornals, who becomes the second most-expensive signing in the Club’s history behind Felipe Anderson, has signed a five-year contract, with an option of a further year, after undergoing a successful medical at Spire London East Hospital.

Just 23, the Castellon-born player has already made more than 150 senior appearances and will join up with Manuel Pellegrini’s squad after representing his country at this summer’s UEFA European U21 Championship finals.

Dont think he is anything special.

He at least isn’t lazy

Crystal, I think he already is. I hope he keeps trying shots on goal as well, he has some Rice like goals up his sleeve and they will never come good if he doesn’t try.

Just have to looknat the pass he played through to bowen to create the goal
Against neecastle, only player in our squad that would make that pass. Play him in the 10 with soucek and rice behind him and next season i really believe he will be a proper asset to the team

Better in the centre playing through balls and grafting

Maybe you’d be a little less critical if you had the job of tracking him for 90min?

Re: Pablo Fornals - signed
He is not a winger, and its wasted to play him there.
He playes there now beacuse Anderson and Masuaku is dogshit.
He certainly covers a lot of ground, but a talented young player he isnt. Ok squad player, nothing more

Re: Pablo Fornals - signed
According to Transfermarkt his whole career stats have been as follows:

Centre - 109 apps, 13 goals, 14 assists
Left - 31 apps, 0 goals, 6 assists
Right - 36 apps, 4 goals, 7 assists

I think it's fair to say though that a wide player needs more pace in the PL than in Spain, so even if he's got experience he might not be best suited to the role.

Re: Pablo Fornals - signed
I was under the impression that he mostly played on the left with his previous club? I'm not sure he is being played out of position.

Must be a nightmare to track and mark him - bet opposition players love him too ;)

I like him, he'd make a make a great midfield chinny reckon three, of him, Jimmy Hill and Bruce Forsyth

No, I like him

He's being played out of position but still made a goal and he always puts a shift in. He has shown that when played centrally he is also a goad threat. He is well worth his place in the squad.

Agree

He is out there because he willing to put the work in, which is what we needed right now but he does offer more in the centre. I know I saw it at mostly youth level but he has pass in him and a shot. I think he has learned he won't have forever on the ball here and I think will get faster in his decision making.

Re: Pablo Fornals - signed
I think he's wasted out wide..

I'd have a midfield 3 of rice, soucek and fornals.

Between them they've got a bit of everything. Defensive steel, physical presence, high energy and vision.

And they are 1st and 5th in most distance covered in 90mins.

Re: Pablo Fornals - signed
The lad is an absolute work horse.

I see Sky done a piece on on Soucek and fornals was 5th on the list for Distance covered by players since the Seasons return.

Lacks a bit of pace and quality at times but he’s still young and is going to bet better.

Re: Pablo Fornals - signed
He's not the type of player we probably all thought he would be. When you hear we're signing a young and experienced Spanish attacking midfielder who's played 150 odd games in La Liga your first thought (or hope) is that he'll be a technically brilliant David Silva type. But he's not. He grafts, undoubtedly. He seems to divide opinion with us lot. I like him. He always seems to be involved when you look back at our goals. Maybe he's more like a Spanish Snodgrass! I think he can improve.

Rice should be ringing his agent this morning about setting up a meeting with Fat Frank, playing Huddersfield next season won't do his England chances much good!

>>> Just shows the inflation in transfer fees.

That implies that any other club would have paid what we paid. I doubt they would.

At least he tries. He looks likes he gives a shit.

Anderson is a coward.

Re: Pablo Fornals - signed
Pablo is just not very good.

We paid all that money for him .... is he any better than Ian Bishop for example? No.

Just shows the inflation in transfer fees.
