Re: The Hitcher has thumbed his last ride
First saw the original cinema release of Bladerunner on ITV in the early 90’s, thought it was rubbish that made no sense. Watched the directors cut a few years later, thought it was a masterpiece.

Also it took something like 14 years for the music to be available to buy or something.

Re: The Hitcher has thumbed his last ride
He timed it well tbf, as 2019 is the year Bladerunner is set in.

Only watched the theatrical version once and it is absolutely fucking awful.

The rumour is that HF thought the idea of the voice over was stupid so he deliberately did it badly hoping they'd ditch it and to his horror they used it anyway.

No surprise it tanked tbf.

Still not seen the sequel.

Re: The Hitcher has thumbed his last ride
The final cut is the one shown on tv these days, the theatrical cut had the bogart style voice over (which some people love). and the nonsense happy ending. I think there are four or five different cuts on the box set dvd.

Has anyone ever managed to watch the entire theatrical version of Blade Runner? It's fucking awful. The directors cut seems difficult to.come by these days.

Gove has been appointed Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, which sounds incredibly important..

Think I only ever saw him in Bladerunner. but he was excellent.

Art Neville (The Meters, Neville Brothers) also gone. Now, HE had talent. (Shame it wasn't Gary.)

Piss off, death. You're making me feel old.

Re: The Hitcher has thumbed his last ride
I remember my late dad getting out Flesh and Blood back in 1985 on video. I think he thought it was some sort of Excalibur fantasy thing but when Jennifer Jason Leigh went through the whole film with hardly any clothes I don't think any of us knew where to look!!!

Underrated actor. Hitcher and Nighthawks were excellent as was Blade Runner (the original!)

On another note David Hedison also passed away. Felix Lighter in two Bonds and I seem to remember the Commander in Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea.

I was going say "Is Rutger Hauer now dreaming of robot sheep?" but the OP is better.

Liked Ladyhawke as a kid

vampire in the Buffy movie

Him phoning in his part in the great bad movie Turbulence 3: Heavy Metal is pretty funny

Apparently not seen him in much lately.

Re: The Hitcher has thumbed his last ride
Say it ain’t so.! Nighthawks. The Hitcher. And of course Blade Runner are some of the greatest films of the 80’s. A cracking actor. And by all accounts a really good guy.

RIP Rutger.
