West Ham vs Manchester United Squad
Been having a discussion with a Man U fan at work. He was kicking off about losing to us but I pointed out that I think we have a better team overall - he obviously disagreed. Here's the breakdown:

Managers - Ole vs Pellegrini:

Winner: Pellegrini -
All day long. Won more, done more, has been consistently successful at a very high level.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Goalkeeper: De Gea vs Fabianski

Winner: De Gea -

This is a difficult one, Fabs has been brilliant for us. But De Gea is world class one his day. On form you would argue Fabs nicks it.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Right Back: Fredericks vs Wan Bissaka:

Winner: Wan Bissaka -
I don't think there is loads in it, but as Wan Bissaka is younger and in England squad, has been better at driving forward, wouldn't say one is better than the other with defending.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Center Backs: Diop vs Ogbonna vs Maguire vs Lindelof:

Winners: Diop and Maguire -
Diop is the best as we all know, he is a beast and at a young age is so exciting for us. Maguire is better than Og and Lindelof. I think Og has done well this season, Lindelof is quite average.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Left Back: Cresswell vs Masuaku vs Shaw vs Young:

Winner: Cresswell -
This one is difficult. Cresswell has the best left peg, Masuaku is the best dribbler. Young is experienced, but he is way past his best now. Shaw is hot and cold, just like our LB's, but is a good player. On form, Cresswell is the best at the moment. I let my Man U colleague chose this one.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Midfield Trio: Rice vs Noble vs Lanzini vs Mata vs McTominay vs Pogba:

Winners: Rice, Pogba & Lanzini.

Obviously Noble is the in-form player, but Pogba is better and he was won the world cup. I really don't like Pogba, plus would rather have Noble than him - but on quality Pogba is better.
Rice is far ahead of McTominay at the moment, very consistant. Lanzini is better than Mata, more skillful and frightening to defenses. Mata's form has decimated in the last few seasons.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Right Midfield: Yarmolenko vs Rashford:

Winner: Yarmolenko -
Rashford has been shocking in 2019. Yarmo has been on fire this season, so glad he's back.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Left Midfield: James vs Felipe Anderson:

Winner: Felipe Anderson -

FA is class, runs the game, great playmaker. James is fast, but then again so is FA. James could become a very good player, but currently FA is better,

-----------------------------------------------------------

Striker: Haller vs Martial

Winner: Haller

This one was so difficult, Martial is more of a winger but he's upfront at the moment. I think Haller is an all round better player, plus he scored 20 goals last season - something Martial has never done.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Combined team -

Manager: Pellegrini
GK: De Gea
RB: Wan Bissaka
CB: Maguire
CB: Diop
LB: Cresswell
RM: Yarmolenko
CDM: Rice
CM: Pogba
CAM: Lanzini
LM: Felipe Anderson
ST: Haller

But it's not based on their whole careers, you twerp. Based on RECENT FORM.

Read properly, then think before typing. The whole world knows De Gea has been poor for the last couple of seasons.

Yes, but overall if you ask me who you would take out of the two based on their whole career it has to be De Gea.

Comparisons are always interesting as are football threads in general.

Agree with most of the O/P

Cresswell: it remains to be seen, as with Masuaku, hopefully we can keep at least one of them in form, but they have had a lot of poor moments very recently. Still have to go with Ashley Young, he has been more consistent.

I will take Fabianski on the flip side. De Gea has lost them games in recent memory, can't say I remember Fabianski doing the same. I will go with our unflappable Pole, I am boring that way.

I try to look long term so I would switch Rashford and Yarmalenko. The Ukrainian has come leaps and bounds since returning, he scored before he was injured but is doing a lot more.
But I need a few more months of that before binning Rashford for him.

My two cents.

(Not sure why if you find a topic not worth your time, you post on it or even open. Always strange to me)

tanman so has fabianski

Fabianski better than De Gea? Take the claret and blue specs off. De Gea has single handedly kept United in matches over the last yea or so.

Pogba is a good player on his day, but can be mediocre.

At his price, he should be an excellent one on every day. He isn't.

Watched the game with 3 Man U MATES... all three were saying that we would win and that at the moment we have the better squad.... it was like 1976 all over again

We could even merge names.

We could be known as West Ham United.

I don't get the fascination over Pogba.

He wouldn't even make my subs bench.

Luke Shaw starts for sure, was only 2 weeks ago everyone said cresswell was shit and finished.

... and that Arthur Muckaska is the new Maldini... only on WHO

Taking the injury out of it, anyone choosing De Gea over Fabianski going by their form over the last 2 years is clearly a fucking Sky Sports lapdog mug.

Re: West Ham vs Manchester United Squad
Rossal, Dan James is nowhere near the level of Felipe Anderson I don't think. I think he just has more to his game and can playmake as well as run at defenders.

Re: West Ham vs Manchester United Squad
Id have Dan James over Yarmo and Anderson

Id also have Luke shaw over both our LB's

Apart from that agree

Odd exercise, but I read it all!
I would agree on paper we are better than ManU so it will be interesting to see if we finish above them...
Perhaps it is more the depth of the squad we should look at though. If Roberto can step up and do a good job may define a large part of our season!

I agree with all of the above. Mind you, I did something similar in the late 80s with us and Liverpool and had us coming out on top so...

The mere fact we turned them over without getting out of second gear should tell the northern cunt all he needs to know.
