Since Oxford
2 draws and 2 defeats!

Any more proof needed that we should stop treating these cup games with such contempt as all its done is disrupt us, oh and we’re out of a cup that we could do really well in if we took it serious.

Re: Since Oxford
This is not just about the selection for Oxford, it is about the message those selected got about the importance of the game. It’s about an ethos of the club which is not a winners ethos. They don’t look to have anything about them and it’s all very well saying they should be self motivating but mostly, footballers aren’t. They are talented and the value a a good manager adds is that he organises them and motivates them. Ours are neither organised and motivated. That comes down to the manager.

Re: Since Oxford
For what it is worth my take is this. I have supported the club all my life and was 12 years old when we won the FA Cup in 1980. I did not go and I spent my whole life wanting them to get to Wembley so I could be there. Eventually managed to get to Cardiff in 2006 and loved it despite the Mickey's cheating us out of it. I really don't understand why we don't go hell for leather in the cups and one of the reasons I don't bother going anymore. It is more important financially to stay in the PL than to win a cup but as we will never win the league I don't really get the point anymore. West Ham will never go below the second tier so try to fucking win something to get my interest back FFS. They won't so I won't bother.

always find it bizarre people defending losing to shit like oxford and wimbledon just in case it might mean criticising Pellegrini

Re: Since Oxford
Before Chelsea played Grimsby in the same competition they were on a bad run of form, they beat Grimsby 8-1 and have not lost since.

Just saying.

Re: Since Oxford
Plus, this "you have to play your first team each cup game" thing is a fad. For many years cup games were seen as an opportunity to give kids and reserves a run out.

Now the manager HAS to play their first team. Why the change?

Re: Since Oxford
Oxford, like everyone else on football, didn't play their full strength team for the cup either.

The reality is that football has changed and cups aren't as important any more. You can either accept that or pine for a time machine trip back to the 80s with Sold0.

This isn't proof of anything at all.

Re: Since Oxford
At the end of 90 mins it was pretty much the first team and we conceded more goals...

Re: Since Oxford
team picked at oxford was a fucking disgrace and hate Pellegrini for not giving a fuck about the cups.
Still worked out well since

Re: Since Oxford
You're looking for reasons where there are none. The team and manager are a selection of cunts and that's all there is to it.

Re: Since Oxford
Like any team outside the top 6 if you aren’t going to try and win the cups what exactly is the point of your club?
Always think early season with new players that games against lower league teams are a chance to help the team gel and get used to each other.

Now we are out and on recent form it will be another wasted season where we aim for 40 points.
It’s time for the owners to accept they lack the ability to create a successful football club and sell it to someone who can.

Makes a difference having a goalkeeper that the defence has faith in.
