Academy Graduates Board
I noticed this photo last week in an article:

https://www.whufc.com/sites/default/files/inline-images/Mipo7261.jpg

It details all academy graduates who have 'made it' to the first team.

It appears that you only make the board once you start a league game. What do you think about that?

It therefore means Freddie Sears is listed as making his debut after he had actually scored a premier league goal. It also means that (amongst others) Dylan Tombides is not on the board as he only appeared in the cup.

Other recent omissions include Nathan Holland, Joe Powell, Connor Coventry etc.

It makes the most recent board look particularly bare when there is only 15 names between Anton Ferdinand & Ben Johnson.

"... in recent years we've had the kids play up at Forest and in the very early stages of the Europa

Are they graduates? as those games were really dev squad games in essence.....bit of a tough one"

That's my view. they are first team games but are not treated as being on the same level as league first team games. i think the higher bar creates a more accurate picture. I had a mate once who was nutmegged by Martin Hayes in a league cup match once. He was 16 and playing for Luton. He never played a minute of professional football after that indignity. Be a bit innaccurate to call him a graduate of anything except the Nutmegged by Shit Players Society.

can see the argument for but will counter with if you keep it to "graduate" status when you've started in the premier league it will give the youth a higher target than just an cup appearance against the likes of macclesfield

I agree with Huffers, but then in recent years we've had the kids play up at Forest and in the very early stages of the Europa

Are they graduates? as those games were really dev squad games in essence.....bit of a tough one

Re: Academy Graduates Board
Thanks for your input Gavros.

I understand about drawing a line, but I think a first team game is a first team game at the end of the day. I believe the line should be there.

Re: Academy Graduates Board
It is probably fair enough. you have to put the line somewhere. You could even argue that it should be multiple starts as one at the end of the season in a meaningless game is...meaningless.
