Another bloody BA system meltdown
Stuck in Vegas - no idea when we'll leave.

When will fucking BA ever learn? Cunts.

So you were only delayed by 5 1/2 hours?

I mean it's never good to get a delay, but that's just an inconvenience rather than anything else. If that was the trade off for unbeatable value with the rest of the holiday then I'd say it's not so bad, and by the sounds of it you'll fly with them again regardless :)

What annoyed me recently with an airline was I was flying from LA back home with American, the cheeky fuckers wanted to charge 8 dollars for a measure of spirits on board! I think that's the first time on long haul someone has tried to charge me for that.

Agree about resort taxes though. Outrageous. Never understood why they don't just add it to the price of the room.

Indeed, I booked last weekend for 355 days away, but that's because I was set on a particular destination on a particular date. You can easily get you and the missus somewhere lovely in First or Business - and if you're a bit less set on a destination, you can do it closer than a year in advance.

Have a look at https://rewardflightfinder.com/ and click on 'I don't know where I want to go' - it'll find you somewhere to use those Avios in First. Just don't waste them!*

*at least give them to me

Thanks Joe - next time!

The only reason we go BA these days is because their packages for flight hotel and car (in the US at least) are unbeatable. £695 each for 7 nights in NYNY. The fucking resort fees of USD40 per day and USD15 for parking are the killers though. Vegas is so greedy these days.

Not true Trunds - being gold only gets you extra seats in economy

Re: Another bloody BA system meltdown
"Is that all you've got"

I have a few (3 or 4) hundred thousand the last time I checked. Because I avoid flying on BA, I never get promoted up a tier which means if I want to use the avios miles to get a flight I actually want, I have to book it a year in advance (I don't know what I'm doing next week, let alone next year).

I understand it's much easier to book avios flights if you're a gold tier member, and I'm never likely to get there.

What a shit place to get stuck in...

David L - you can just do an EU261 claim on BA’s site, works really well

Re: Another bloody BA system meltdown
Left Vegas after 5 1/2 hour delay - thanks for asking.

Did the compensation claim through Resolver ( as recommended by Martin Lewis) for free and already got an acknowledgenent from BA. EUR1,200 to follow shortly hopefully.

Is that all you've got, or do you have some more? Because you can use those easily enough!

Well, I am a frequent flyer, so...

Personally, I'd rather not be a flyer of any kind, frequent or occasional, but until they work out a way of making a whole nation coming to me instead, I've little or no other option.

Ooh, listen to all the wannabe frequent flyers.
I bet you all do TripAdvisor reviews so you can list where you've been this year and where you're going next.

At least they responded - Qantas broke my case, I logged it correctly and.... nothing

Re: Another bloody BA system meltdown
The complaint process you go through with BA is entirely unique to them though.

I'm really not one make official complaints, but I dread to think of how many hours I wasted on the phone to them the last time I flew with them. And all they reckoned they could give us was 10k avios points (which are impossible to spend).

Re: Another bloody BA system meltdown
I still fly BA a fair bit (pointy end only of course) but now actively try to avoid flying on the 747 with them as my last three flights on it have been cancelled or delayed by ages due to them breaking down.

The EU261 compensation is welcome (David L, make sure you claim this), but I’d still rather get where I’m going on time - especially when it’s coming home.

It’s not unique to BA though - I’ve had long delays with Qatar, Qantas and Emirates too

Re: Another bloody BA system meltdown
I, foolishly, do the same.

For a few years, I'm happy flying other airlines, and sometimes pay more for doing so.

Then something stupid inside of me says, "Go on, give them a go". Then, after arriving, I spend the whole time angry with myself for knowing what I did, and knowing that I've got to fly back with them.

Cunts.

Every few years I give BA another try, and every time I regret doing so.

They've gone from "world's favourite airline" to world famous arseholes and show no signs of changing that.

I flew with BA recently. Was a fucking nightmare..

Kept on saying I PITY THA FOOL every 5 mins, and had to be given milk to calm him down!

Re: Another bloody BA system meltdown
I think BA will learn when their shareholders are prepared to invest in the I.T of the future rather than a disparate, Dr frankenstein patched up system of repair and make do.

I understand that this type of thinking on WHO is far too dangerous and lateral for the majority on here

Heavens forbid if you invest in something which makes you more money in the long term.
