Cheap, big old stoopid car recommendations
What is the biggest and best bang for your buck for a grand?

I do this from time to time, I get fed up with my new, leased whatever and task myself to find a wafty old banger and see how long I can make it last. My previous best was a £1000 Lexus LS400 that just fucking kept going and going and going until someone offered me £1500 for it

Current favourite is a 2000 £1k Audi A8 3.7 Quattro Sport. Looks alright, sunroof and elecy windows all work drives alright air con don't work and it's 7 years past its due cambelt change. Sounds perfect

Unless you can tell me different??

And yes, I'm trying to distract you all from our horrible politics and horrible football team in WHO old fashioned stylee.

Ted

I must admit I'm amazed at how cheap the 430 is - I had one for a few years, at the time I was commuting to Cheltenham so was doing 100 miles per day, cos Ive got a heavy right foot I was only getting 21 to the gallon, other than that and the weight of the thing (they weigh a ton) it was one of favourite ever cars

Nice car. Right up my alley.
Comfy wafty soft-top for some summer cruising.

Not a soft-top Zeb it's a hard top that folds away electronically into the boot.

Bruuuno it's a Pre-Loved Lexus so it has full service history a report is carried out on the car before the sale and repairs will be carried out where and if needed you then get a 12 month Lexus warranty along side 12 months Lexus Roadside Assistance including home start it then is delivered with a full tank of petrol :-)

You really do get what you pay for.

Clarkson talks complete shit when it comes to car reviews, entertaining as they are. Glad you got a goodun ted, I’d want to see close up pics of underneath if I was buying a car without seeing it in case it’s rusty to hell like one I viewed the other week, it must have been parked in the sea ffs

My 2006 Lexus SC 430 was delivered today and wow what a motor !!!
Isn't it great when you get something and it's way better than you expected !

Jeremy Clarkson was talking out of his arse when he is said that the Lexus SC 430 was the 'worst car in the history of the world'.

Fenton, I bought a van in September without seeing it, it's turned out to be a good buy so far.

Nice one Tom this SC does come with a 12 month Lexus warranty so I'm quite happy with that.

Ah well just paid the balance on a 2006 Lexus Pre-owned SC 430 to be delivered Friday or Monday the first time I've ever bought a car without seeing it.

Just seen a couple of Lexus SC 430's for sale late models with very low mileage just shy of 20k !!!! they have been increasing in value over the last 12 months.

Re: Cheap, big old stoopid car recommendations
Mashed.

That era of merc had a few issues , quality control was non existent and rust was the killer.

Bought 6 of them when I was a fleet manager and at any one time one was off the road , usually air con or electrical related.

Having said that , any issues should have been sorted by now and at 500/1500 they are almost cheap enough to smoke about and scrap come mot time.

The V6 ones use a lot of fuel tho.

Could be a good buy but as ever with those big luxury cars if something goes wrong it can be costly.
