Hi ChesterRd.

I’m just keeping the village idiot spot warm until you return.

If NZ win or draw this 2 match series they will move above England in the ICC Test rankings.

Poor chase by Australia in a game they should have closed out to continue their 8 game winning streak.
Same middle order problems, obviously the injured Maxwell will come back but would like them to get Josh Phillipe in somewhere for the October World Cup in Australia.
Still better off having close matches than ones with a margin of 100+ runs at this stage.

India are struggling, Rohit Sharma is injured and Kohli is out of test form. A real shame.......

A full toss at that height is actually very easy to manufacture into a boundary scoring opportunity with minimal effort, whilst also receiving an additional delivery.

It’s trajectory is so different the eye would pick it up instantly and give the time to be able to process the adjustment needed.

Good to see the Saffa's pick up a tidy win defending a MEAGRE score.

Women's World Cup.

Sunday village standard and with roughly the same size crowds.

There is too much cricket but think there is defintely a place for A team 4 day games between proper Test second elevens as bridge between county/Shield cricket and Tests as the gap feels bigger than ever at the moment.
Not sure either team has put out their best Test second eleven but its a start.

All good points Sven. Given how hard it seems to be for test teams to win away these days, tours for Lions/A teams would seem to be a good idea.

Speaking of being difficult to win away, India, no 1 ranked test team, are effectively minus 38 - 4, after 3 days in NZ.

I can imagine you, James Taylor & Ed Smith in your matching linen suits and sunglasses swanning around the country in Ed's pink sports car running the rule over young boys who are county prospects, Matty

Just caught up with James Taylor who tells me that the score is 80/5 after hundreds for Sibley (one of mine) and Lawrence. A nice 65 for Bracey too (another of mine).

Overton and Carse (both mine) amongst the wickets.

About time #28 Danny BOY Lawrence pissed off to his PSL team Karachi Kings and kept himself under the radar again for a bit.

#10 Nick BROWNE, who has won as many County Championships as the county of Hampshire has in it's entire history, is no doubt PLODDING away in the indoor nets in preparation for the CHAMPIONS game against the MCC in Sri Lanka next month.

Indeed, sven son

The retirement of M4E seems to have taken something away. He was always more fun when talking about Azim RAFIQ retiring Michael Vaughan in the nets and how he was going to take more test wickets than shane warne.

Or blair turgott and matias fanimo getting 100 England caps

Or dropping Alistair cook and jimmy Anderson for not being good enough

Or hundreds of others.

This new incarnation seems to be obsessed with after timing, and adding anyone who has a modicum of success to his stable, only after they've done something half decent. Takes the formerly amusing edge off it.

Matty
I know you are just feebly trying to wind up Essex fans (your bait was always much better in the past) but the Cricket Australia app is following this match with much more regular updates than cricinfo who haven’t turned up yet for Day 2

Both century makers out , Lawrence 125 Sibley 116
England Lions 319/6

Re: England tour of South Africa
Assume Nick Browne is plundering runs for the Lions?

While Sibley reflects on his predicted struggle in SA?

Any news?
