Shows themselves up in public and creates an imaginary villain.

Typical thick Tory Daily Heil reader.

Nah Ally Pally remains a great place in itself but the area immediately surrounding it, at least on the Wood Green side, has become rough as fuck.

We actually drove through South Tottenham this morning, close to the border with Hackney. No fucking thank you.

The best part is the old Hornsey Borough Council bit which includes Crouch End, Muswell Hill and I think Ally Pally.

Re: When did Haringey become Harringay?
Yes Harringay is a place and Haringey is the larger borough within which it sits.

My fiance is a copper there (the borough) and it is an absolute toilet of humanity.

Weird borough in that it actually contains some posh bits of Highgate but fuck me, most of the rest is Mad Max territory.

Re: When did Haringey become Harringay?
Haringey only came into existence in the sixties when the boroughs of Tottenham, Wood Green and Hornsey were amalgamated. Harringay was an area within one of those boroughs. Haringey was a poncy name given by the bureaucrats based on an old Anglo Saxon name for the area.

Also Alexandra Palace is pretty handy for the Masters Snooker or the odd gig now and again...

Alexandra Palace is quite nice...if somebody gifted me a house or flat up on that hill I wouldn't complain.

I used to get the train from green Lane or South Tottenham to go to the matches. Canging at Barking onto the District line

Re: When did Haringey become Harringay?
Harringay was in use at least as far back as the 1880s. Haringey is still the name of the borough.
