FA Cup 3rd Round football weekend
Once upon a time it was all about a Dad’s Army of heroic bakers, cobblers, fishmongers, postmen and factory workers who had earned the right to take on the big boys of English football. The nation’s hearts were with the underdog. At the dawn of each new year, we licked our lips in anticipation of how David could overcome Goliath. We urged them to keep going on dimly-lit, muddy battlefields in obscure towns the length and breadth of the country, even as cramp applied its painful grip from the 70th minute. The heroism of that army lay largely in bravado and dreams of giantkilling feats that would stay forever in the memory. Some did. But most fell as Mainwarings to Rommels, as Jones, Pike, Godfrey and Fraser would surely have fallen – heroically, yet inevitably – to a vastly superior force. But in these unequal affairs was, and still is, the great romance of the FA Cup Third Round. Even the era of Sky Sports and BT cannot completely take that away.

There are a few banana skins in the list below. Not least the game that kicks off shortly after quarter past six tomorrow evening.

Oliver did the right thing going to the screen.
Should do it in the PL but as usual the cunts are making it up as they go along.
Also ludicrous that some ties have VAR and some don’t.

i went Palace v Derby with a MATE today

ref Oliver actually did well *spits*

Rooney stood at the back spraying it about all day. Him and Huddlestone are a good midfield pair for the Championship
.

Pickford should have saved that.

Too small to be a top keeper,

Reckon Liverpool could put their women’s team out and beat Everton.
Everton have just gone mentally against them and don’t believe they can beat them.
It’d be quite funny if it wasn’t those cunts Liverpool

I see Michael Oliver went to the monitor for VAR at Palace. Why haven’t the twats being doing that previously? And why now?

Agreed happygilmore. I was most impressed with what Klop is building there...unfortunately!

I was impressed with Liverpools youngsters must be gutting being an Everton supporter.

Everton are fucking clueless, but Liverpool are absolutely vomit inducing cunts. Even their kids are punchable diving slags. I'd like to stamp on Klopp's fucking face too.

geoffpikey, so you are saying we should be grateful to have Roberto as back up goalie?

Watching the Liverpool game it is nice to see a full stadium for an FA cup game.

Re: FA Cup 3rd Round football weekend
Apart from our game I have little interest in the FA Cup.
Had been looking forward to seeing Liv v Eve and its Liverpool kids v Everton 1st team. Great.
Seems almost nobody takes it seriously anymore.

Half dreading seeing what team we put out.

Very strange atmosphere at Anfield for the hub cappers derby. Huge numbers of Everton there yet almost no noise

geoffpikey 7:02 Sun Jan 5
Re: FA Cup 3rd Round football weekend
Wasn't so long ago that Liverpool had Karius and Mignolet as keepers. Both dodgy. They've focussed (and spent £66m) on upgrading. Allison Becker is paid £90k PW! It's just apples and oranges, really.

Straight at him. All 3.

Wasn’t so shit hot with the corner though, was he?
