Anxiety/depression
Been through bad time lately with suffering with this. Dark thoughts as well. I know some posters on here suffer with this. Anyone come through the other side of this shit?

A number of posters have been yellow carded and told to stay off this thread unless they have anything constructive to add. This is a thread that has been very useful to so many, for any other posters with scores to settle, argue on another thread.
This thread is sacrosant.Thank you

Had a good read through this thread the very best to all that are trying and in recovery.
I had a shock heart attack July 2022 and was a fully fit running 30 miles a week condition person.. But you just never know. I am on my way back now after two heart ops and four stents.. The mind is the worst thing after this kind of illness and therapy has brought me a long way. I recommend this treatment after always saying no.

Charley,

Thank you.

That sanctity also extends outside of this thread so if anyone uses something someone has shared on this thread go goad or insult another poster 'in the playground' then that's equally deplorable.

I just re read your post. Is stopped drinking alcohol about 6 years ago and my hormones went through the roof and it did effect my mental health without me knowing it. Sertraline has calmed me down somewhat

Re: Anxiety/depression
From my experience with Sertaline they take the edge off of some issues dont ask for an increase in dosage if you feel they are not working as that can make you feel worse as it did me

The Samaritans are good for talking you dont have to be thinking about taking your own life to speak to them. You have friends on here cat all the best

Re: Anxiety/depression
As tomshardwaee said, u could get anxiety amd even feel more depressed at first but after a month or so it balances out. Fair play to u for writing. If the depression or anxiety becomes uncontrollable, reach out to GP as some of these mind of meds only suit some and they can change to another for u. I'm sure it will be OK.
I've never gone on anti depressants etc but have many founds who have and never looked back so for u, better times ahead I'm.sure.

Re: Anxiety/depression
Yngwies cat, you might get some side effects in the first few days of taking them but they normally settle down. Takes time for the body to get used to them but they can really help to take the edge off the deep lows. Also if you don't find them right for you then go back to your GP. All the best.

Re: Anxiety/depression
You are not along yngwies a lot of us are struggling remember that things can and will get better no matter how shit it seems now.

My ex used to take that she said it was really helpful in preventing the real lows but also stopped her from experiencing real joy. Said it balanced her out and was a valuable tool, see it as a tool.

Good luck mate you are amongst people who actually give a shit on this here thread
