a. The league is our bread & butter, so this year let's have a club sandwich

c. A bye to the League Cup 3rd round gives us a good start, let's make it count

Putting a pet to ‘sleep’
Is it legal to put your own pet down rather than paying a vet to do it?

Asking for a friend who has an elderly cat.

Being a country lad the original question re. the legality of bumping off a past it's sell by date pet somewhat amused me.

i remember the one time i went on a millwall board and the most active thread was a dead serious one about where to get hold of a gun to shoot their neighbour's dog.

Re: Putting a pet to ‘sleep’
I think it was on Unbelievable Truth or something, where they were discussing whether there was a time limit under which magicians were allowed to keep rabbits in a top hat during a trick.

Someone said, surely putting a rabbit in a hat is actually cruel and illegal? To which David Mitchell rightly responded: I don't think so, I mean, you can put a rabbit in a pie...

Ultimately, we take cats to the vet and pay to kill them purely because of the last 50 years or so of cultural habit , but wouldn't do that with any animal that tatses nice. Can you imagine your great grandad not putting his own cat out of its misery, and instead giving his hard-earned over to someone else?

If the pet is cremated it can be done separately so you can have the ashes returned to you or with other animals which is less expensive
Big place in Cambridge where most are sent to be cremated.
Got ours back in a nice wooden casket with name plates about a week later,

Hessian bag : £1 from a pound store
Brick : Picked up off building site
Lake or pond : Locate near home for free

Will need a bigger bag if you want the wife done at the same time

I think it's more expensive if you want the vet to dispose of the remains as well as administer the injection. We've got 2 cats, a rabbit and a couple of hamsters buried in the garden. The weird thing id that the present cat likes to sit on top of where the two old cats are buried.

Re: Putting a pet to ‘sleep’
The main thing is that the animal does not suffer unnecessarily and is put to sleep humanely.
Had to have the ginger Tom put down due to a cancerous tumour before Xmas. incredibly heart wrenching but the worse thing was having made the decision to stop any future suffering when we came to make the final journey the car wouldnt start (1st time in 3 years since new) started to think is it a sign it’s not his time yet but deep down knew it was the right thing to do so summoned a lift and held him while he was put to sleep.
Then handed a final bill & overall paid the best part of £4K for previous treatment & an operation to remove a toe prior to the cancer being confirmed as secondary (also found in the tissue) although the insurance paid the most of this sum you still have to pay up front in most cases and can have no guarantee how much will be reimbursed.
Organisations like the blue cross hospitals are a god send for those on benefits & low incomes and also treat the animals of the homeless.

I love dogs and cats, people that don't like cats, are because they are independent and won't slobber you with its tongue on demand, a tongue that was used just before it was licking its bollocks
