The end of headers?
Although I'm not so tall, heading was one of my favourite parts of playing football. The best goal I remember scoring was with a header. It's hard to imagine football if heading is banned (which is a realistic possibility, given the recent results of medical research). I like watching professional 5-a-side so maybe a game without aerial clashes could still be popular.

Re: The end of headers?
Anyway, we've women's football.

In about 30-40 years if heading significantly increases your chance of getting dementia.

In the meantime you just question the various pieces of research that propose causation.

Last one that sticks in my mind is a beauty of a diving header from Ilan.

Re: The end of headers?
Women live longer and age is a contributory factor in dementia. Plus women beat their head against brick walls in frustration at their husbands.

Re: The end of headers?
If it is true that heading footballs causes dementia then why are there not more men than women with dementia?

I do. Those sodden leather balls bloody hurt.

The heavy as fuck thick rubbery orange ones that replaced them at my school weren't much better either.

Do you remember the old lace up balls with the bladder inside? They would retain water and hurt like fuck when you headed em.

The Scots are banning players up to 12 heading I thought.
Who knows if that will go any further

They are ground breakers
The Scottish National team has banned kicking the ball in the net several years ago

Re: The end of headers?
I think we are a LONG way from banning heading - despite the medical evidence.

Look at boxing.

Re: The end of headers?
The thing is, when Jeff Astle was playing, the balls were twice the weight of the current beach balls they are using
