This Coronavirus in China
anyone else worried? 9 dead so far.

CNY soon so the virus will spread very quickly if they cannot control it. It'll be in Europe by the end of CNY if not earlier.

is this the end of humanity?

At the rate the Iranians are claiming their death rate from chinkovirus is around 25%. Suggests they have their numbers wrong.

That Braintree thing was also bollocks it seems. Weird because Bolty is usually so accurate with his facts. Oh hang on he's a screaming little noofter. My mistake.

Does this Iranian health minister have a special vest?

Anyway, he's clever. 15 reported dead in Iran. "The death toll was rejected by Mr Harirchi, who vowed to resign if it could be proven that even half that number had died."

How do you prove 7.5 people dead?

Branded

Another iranian MP has also tested positive and stated he is going to die.

What a drama queen.

Wonder how many (western leaders & diplomats) had a bit of Chinese on the side over the last month or so.

Apparently, Huawei 5G is immune to this virus, so...

I think you may have missed the point, I don't support the arseholes who run China. I'm a free market liberal conservative.

Meanwhile the Dep Health Minister has just tested positive for Covid19 and looks like the Slovakian PM may also have it. Seeing as he was just recently at the EU summit meeting this could spread quite far.

Re: This Coronavirus in China
rios, I know you love a good dictator, but isn't your argument undermined by the fact that China, the place where the epidemic started and where it's at its worst, is governed by an authoritarian government?

If China had a free press, it would have been heaping pressure on the government in the early days to do something before the disease got out of hand. Instead, the Chinese government threatened doctors and journalists who raised the alarm.

The 'golden window' to stop its spread passed while authoritarian China was still trying to cover it up.

Hearing that the tiddly's are taking paracetamol before travelling to hide their temperatures and the airlines are turning the heating up on the plane to help kill them, viruses not kitchens.

You’ve actually confused authoritarian states with effective institutions capable of protecting the public in a pandemic.

What an abject specimen you are.

If it is a pandemic, its most likely authoritarian states with complete state control and little in the way of democratic feedback that will survive.

I think North Korea has already executed one and is happy to close all its (mainly closed anyway) external borders and ban all travel.

Most of its towns and cities are largely self-isolated already as they have few means of mass publict transit around the country for the majority of its population.

Re: This Coronavirus in China
Interesting how covid19 seems to have selected Italy, arguably the most politically unstable EU member, to hit first.

Anyway, if it is to be a pandemic, it will be the strong states capable of international cooperation and coherent action that are most fit to face the challenge.
