This Coronavirus in China - PL suspended until 30th April
anyone else worried? 9 dead so far.

CNY soon so the virus will spread very quickly if they cannot control it. It'll be in Europe by the end of CNY if not earlier.

is this the end of humanity?

The curve has almost completely flattened in Australia with not many new cases.

Fingers crossed the measures put in place stop this cunt before it takes off here like it has in other countries, only about 25 deaths and most linked to overseas arrivals or cruise ships.

Religious idiots are being just as helpful now as they were in the "Spanish" flu epidemic just over a hundred years ago.

Whatever God's powers are, they don't seem to include giving special dispensation to religious gatherings to avoid C19 transmission. Some Goddies seem to understand this, even if it is close to blasphemy - others don't

You have to look at some of these scenarios where many have been infected and this that is the case, but it seems different people put out a different viral load.

There was a chior service in washington state. 60 people there - 44 infected and two dead as of a few days ago.

Very interesting piece on microdroplets that are emitted from your mouth or nose when you sneeze, cough, or even talk.

It suggests it’s possible that people can spread the disease just by talking to each other.

Technically, it's no challenge. I've worked on 6 mobile networks that having similar function was a condition of the government of the country in which they operate granting them a licence.

Whether or not people think they are above following government instructions at that point is something for the authorities to address.

If countries rush to lift their restrictions, the economic crisis could be worse and prolonged, warned Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus and International Monetary Fund chief Krisalina Georgieva. Here are more details of what they said:

You do realise that none of this would work in practicality don’t you?

I fully agree with you.

I would hope that any app to be used would be developed in advance of the decision process of who gets to go out so that it's ready and working correctly from day 1.

All such an app would be doing is relaying the result of the Free to travel/Still Locked down decision to people who would need to know such things.

The criteria for Free/Stay will need to be determined once progress has been made on the tests, which is the point when the government get to prove that they really can govern.

Re: This Coronavirus in China - PL suspended until 30th April
MikeO The "Who gets to go out" issue is a separate matter. An app comes into play after that decision has been made.

With all due respect, and I’m not looking for an argument there’s no point in having the APP unless sufficient people “get to go out”

Let’s say that there have been way more cases than we think - say 10% of the population, the majority of which were hidden. You then have to test lots of people to find that 10%. Letting 10% of people out and tracking them helps but it doesn’t solve the economic issue and doesn’t get shops and restaurants open.

Now if they use it to look and see whether you’ve been in contact or close to someone who has tested positive and therefore you get grounded, that might work. Life becomes something of a lottery then, who serves you in a shop, who sits next to you on the tube etc.

There are lots of theories going around, including one from Germany that large gatherings are particularly problematic. So, not the pub, but the Cheltenham Festival. If that was the case any idea of the Premier League coming back is a way off.
