anyone else worried? 9 dead so far.

CNY soon so the virus will spread very quickly if they cannot control it. It'll be in Europe by the end of CNY if not earlier.

is this the end of humanity?

Good news is that the Syrian army have retaken Aleppo from US/Al Qaeda terrorists.

Much celebrations going on in the streets but strangely none of the media BBC/ITV/Sky/Fix/CNN that's spent the last decade frightening the public about Al Qaeda nor any of the blue tick faggoratti are talking about this.

Wuhan-400 is a perfect weapon. It afflicts only human beings. No other living creature can carry it. And like syphilis, Wuhan-400 cant survive outside a living human body for longer than a minute, which means it cant permanently contaminate objects or entire places the way anthrax and other virulent microorganisms can.

Much like smallpox, which is why it was eradicable.

As weapons go, Corona virus seems pretty weak. Unless they envisage future wars being fought against armies of old people.

Dr Charles Lieber, a very big wig at Harvard, has some questions to answer.

Apologies if this was mentioned days ago, as he was arrested by Federal agents on the 28th January, along with two students, one of which is in the Chinese militart.

A few sources here, but I haven’t heard about this until now.

FMOB that Den Koontz , in his 1981 novel The Eye of the Stranger he wrote about a killer virus coming from China in the future called the "Wuhan 400" - good shout Dean Son , got any winners for Punchestown tomorrow?

To understand that, Dombey said, you have to go back twenty months. It was around then that a Chinese scientist named Li Chen defected to the United States, carrying a diskette record of Chinas most important and dangerous new biological weapon in a decade. They call the stuff Wuhan-400 because it was developed at their RDNA labs outside of the city of Wuhan, and it was the four-hundredth viable strain of man-made microorganisms created at that research center.

There’s been almost 1800 deaths so far but Worldwide there are 200,000 births a day.
Many more people are dying of starvation.

Yes, this is an especially grim context given the death earlier this month of the whistleblower medic Li Wenliang, ironically of the same coronavirus.

“We anticipated glitches, but I have to tell you I didn’t anticipate one of this magnitude,” said Dr. William Schaffner, an infectious disease specialist at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

With more than a thousand passengers from the Westerdam headed for home, Dr. Schaffner said, it may be harder than ever to keep the coronavirus outbreak contained to China.

“This could be a turning point,” he said.

A fortnight back, there were a few reports of the virus potentially being the result of a Chinese People's Liberation Army biological warfare programme.

Issue complicated because I believe that some of the Chinese scientists trying to find a cure are scientists employed by the PLA.

Also, further complicated by the opaque nature of everything in China - a situation which has deteriorated markedly under Emperor Shithole, aka Winnie The Pooh, aka Xi Jinping

Re: This Coronavirus in China
Although today's Mail article made me laugh. First it said a lab worker had been bitten/attacked by a bat in the lab and was left with 'bat blood' on his skin. Then it said (the same?) worker was peed on by a bat. Then (again, the same?) bloke discovered a bat tick (on himself). Being the Mail, the article was badly written, but it could easily be construed it was the same worker. Basically, bats hate him. He really should find another job.

If mashed suggests something I'd usually assume the opposite is true, as he's a rampant contrarian.
