This coronavirus in China
anyone else worried? 9 dead so far.

CNY soon so the virus will spread very quickly if they cannot control it. It'll be in Europe by the end of CNY if not earlier.

is this the end of humanity?

Re: This coronavirus in China
The real problem is , is that in reality, China is not a single country (no matter how they want to present that view to the outside world).

It's a collection of pretty autonomous states who will each have their own Covid response strategies, layered on top of those laid down by the CCP.

Inside China, it's not all chocolates & roses. Many regions actively despise direct rule from the CCP. Covid could easily come back to bite the Chinese.

What they need is an effective vaccine.

Re: This coronavirus in China
There’s a reasonable chance that the Chinese have some degree of herd resistance, (if not immunity), to the latest virus because of all the previous corona viruses that have circulated in that part of the world. Let’s hope so, because that means we’ll be a bit more resistant here in Europe too, now we’ve had a better taste of covid than ever before.

Fingers crossed for that T cell memory.

The Chinese vaccine is 50% or less efficient.

Thousands of virus carriers are waltzing through it's borders (they can just about manage the bridges).

CNY with a population believing they've kicked the arse out of the virus (when they haven't) are on the move.

Fucked, fucked, and fucked.

Comma

I only asked because of the comment you made about living in a country that has a government that nobody voted for (iirc).

I'm assuming its either Ireland or Italy, so most likely ireland.

Re: This coronavirus in China
As per your advice why won’t it see the year out?

Re: This coronavirus in China
China's growth won't see the year out - you need to asked somebody who's passed through the region reasonably recently to find out why.

Does your location embarrass you, or do you feel that bringing it down to an actual nation would weaken the arguments you put up here?

Bolty, you’re a lovely bloke but not quite clever enough to realise you’re not clever.

That means you are not out of place on here.

Stay well.

I'm one of the most self aware people , Comma son.

I know my limitations, just as much as I know how to wind certain posters up on here. You included.

Re: This coronavirus in China
Fraser, we’Ve been through a year of this and as we’ve learned more there has been a tendency for contradictory statements to emerge. To me it seems we are all over the place with masks as just one example. However it has always been clear to me that masks are more to help others than for self protection.

Re: This coronavirus in China
Fraser if that is true, it makes the decision to make ys change masks between each call more nonsensical.

It seems so wasteful.

Comma - but isn't it now believed that asymptomatic transmission is extremely rare.

So unless you have symptoms in which case you should be isolating it's ridiculous

Re: This coronavirus in China
Can't imagine a mask doing much to stop a huge green grolly expelled by a violent, unexpected sneeze, but that's just me.

Bolty, we all realise that appearing to make a fool of yourself then confirming this belief with further posts is therapeutic for you.

So you are welcome to carry on posting and if you have time perhaps you could google “self awareness”.
