West ham being run like a fruit stall.
Guardian Sports writer Jonathan Liew said “It’s a Premier League club in London and generates huge amounts of cash and it is being run like a fruit stall”

Daily Telegraph sports writer Matt Law further put the boot in saying “Have you been to the training ground, Its a series of portacabins, there league one clubs with better training ground than that, they haven’t invested in any infrastructure, they rent their stadium, they are tenants in their stadium and they probably have the worst training ground in the Premier League. I think at the moment, they have one scout, David Moyes came back and wanted to bring Stuart Pearce with him, that was vetoed because he dared to criticise the board on a radio station. It’s got one backroom staff Alan Irvine because Alan Stubbs turned him down, he’s got no backroom staff. It’s just a shambles, an absolute shambles”

In the particular case of our owners.

They are unashamed zealot Thatcherites and like Barry Hearn never miss an opportunity to tell everybody so which is very cheap and vulgar.

So in that respect - is probably what BRANDED means.

A bit like the Charmless Man song by Blur

"Quite a few of people where I live are from working class and were builders (as was my old man) and live in very nice houses and earn very good money - and still vote Labour.

What's your point?"

BRANDED post stating that the owners are Tories (and "cunts" for being so) as though that's in contrast the fanbase. Considering where most of the fans live and their social class it's a fair assumption they largely vote Tory these days.

Shitty, Tory cunts

Seeing as most of the fans come from place like Thurrock or Braintree, it's quite likely that most of the fans vote Tory these days. In line with the working class across most of the country if you were paying attention on 12th December.

based on nothing but my own thoughts, i'd say Red Bull are the best case scenario for potential investors.
yes you get a stupid name but they are a genuine sports company who know how to run a club.

QSI are involved with Leeds now? with the world cup on the horizon the Qatari's are looking for an English club.
otherwise i'm surprised there is no Chinese money in the PL yet.

I don't remember that against Cardiff but I do remember some youngsters doing it against Millwall while they were contained by a police escort.

Spain and Portugal are the easy to pick low hanging fruit for the kind of money laundering that you mention - as are quite a few clubs in the football league.

It puts at a huge advantage those mid-range historic clubs who are trying to manage their debts and get on an even keel to be relatively debt-free when much smaller teams with less than 7,000 fans who were in the amateur leagues 20 years ago suddenly reach the top division because an investor has put money in from the goodness of their heart.

Yeah, right!

Exactly what are the fans united about?

Re: West ham being run like a fruit stall.
The other big risk for a club like ours if the clowns do decide to sell up (please!) is money laundering.

There are some big clubs in Portugal and Spain which will soon be on their knees due to the illegal nature of the money that has poured in as "investment". Two Russian mafias are currently under investigation for their investments in top-level, or former top-level, football clubs.

Then you've got the debt-laden "investors" - like the Glaziers - who think nothing of hanging that millstone around the necks of sides like Man Utd. Then you've got the likes of Abramovich who, belatedly, has finally had questions asked about where his wealth has actually come from by the UK government etc etc. Blackpool was effectively under investigation for money laundering by the HMRC at one point.

Etc etc etc.

I would love nothing more than the clowns to sell up and fuck off. But we do have to keep one eye on people presenting as knights on white horses in the current climate. Football is being hijacked by dodgy financiers as a way of moving dodgy money, or debt access, around the world.

Jonathan Lieuw is almost unfailingly a snide smug cunt.

This time round he's being a snide smug self-satisfied cunt to our shitty owners so fair play to him. Much like when we sign someone like Speedie or Bellamy and then say "well, he's our cunt now." Good to hear and see journalists shed light on what we know about them.

But have no doubt that at some point in the future he'll be a snide smug self-satisfied cunt about something we hold dear as well.
