Re: Fredericks Injury
If it's ligaments, it's most likely a separated shoulder which is different from dislocated. Dislocated would be best case, but if it's minor enough, he can be back from a separated shoulder in a month or so. He'll be able to maintain fitness in his legs at least while recovering.

See you in the championship Fredericks, your best level if you can stay injury free.......

Re: Fredericks Injury
Another "Glass Man" but its all irrelevant. The youngsters wont get a look in despite the young lad doing pretty well against Liverpool a few weeks back.

Zabaletta will see out the season to keep the "Tortoise Collective" model intact. Fvck me we even bought the slowest immobile central midfielder in Europe when we did get the chance to bring someone in.

Perhaps Moyes is ahead of his time when all this "gegenpress" and stamina nonsense has had its day ;-)

would expect weeks rather than months if no surgery is required.

You do realise this is west ham right?

Re: Fredericks Injury
Even just ligament damage effectively rules him out for the rest of the season.
I'd sell in the summer as he's not that good and once you've dislocated your shoulder it will always be a weak spot in a contact sport!

Re: Fredericks Injury
Club has put on Fbook that its damaged ligaments rather than any bones and are awaiting confirmation if he'll need surgery.

would expect weeks rather than months if no surgery is required.

Re: Fredericks Injury
right back/wing back was actually antonio's best goal scoring position statistically. bloke hated playing there though and would rather sulk to sullivan than work on his trade.

the resulting mandate was the beginning of the end for bilic. even if you didn't agree with playing him there the club would be in a better state if we collectively told sullivan to do one for picking the team sheet.

don't necessarily blame antonio, he's going to be looking out for number one but it was a demonstration of what a piss take clown outfit of a club we very much still were even after captain fantastic's speech at the boleyn's funeral.

Re: Fredericks Injury
We’re going down anyway, we need to win games so maybe get as many attacking players on the pitch as possible. We’ll suffer massively defensively no doubt but we’re dog shit at the back anyway so we do need to try and out score teams. Granted there is flaws to him playing there but unless moyes uses the young kid I can’t see another viable option. If it’s a flat back 4 then obviously it’s a no go.

How surprising another bad injury in a position we are struggling in.

Re: Fredericks Injury
would be a positive thing to see a kid get a chance v Southampton.
Liverpool away Zabaleta can take the pain.

Moyes will probably play another centre back.

Re: Fredericks Injury
The first season at right back Antonio was actually very good and effective. The second season he was awful as I think he wanted to make a point and not end up there forever. Im not sure id want to be trying him at right wing back but as a short term measure and if his heart was in it like it was the first season with Bilic then i think it would work.

Re: Fredericks Injury
I thought Bilic played Antonio at RB in a 442?

If so it is two very different positions and formations.

at RWB as Swiss said below he gets more freedom going forward and protection from another cb.

If we go again with 3 cbs I would play him there so we can also fit Bowen and Anderson into the side. Antonio is definitely is not a striker. His best asset is running with the ball from deeper positions rather than being the last man.

The more players on the pitch that can cause problems the better.

Ngakia looked ok against Liverpool but let's not forget he got caught out time and time again defensively. Hopefully one for the future but now is not the time to play him.

Re: Fredericks Injury
Stowie,

It is NEVER about just getting as many of your best players on the pitch as possible. When you do that, and put square pegs in round holes, youy tend to get relegated. It has happened to us before.

We should be looking to put out a balanced team, picking the best player available for each position - who plays in that position. Sure, every now and then you have to shuffle around a bit. But on the whole, you want your experienced (even if that experience is at U-23 level) defenders defending and your attacking players attacking.

Antonio was tried repeatedly at right wing-back, and even right-back, by Bilic and he played poorly. He is game - I really like Antonio and he showed his usual enthusiam and intent - but he has no defensive positonal sense and he kept getting caught hopelessly out of position.

He's been our most potent attacking force this season, causing more disruption to opposition defences than anybody else because of his pace, power, direct running and strength. Why take that away from the team in the middle of a relegation fight?

Re: Fredericks Injury
I'm not buying this Zaba is awful line many trot out.

He's nowhere near as good as he was, but how many goals this season can you put down to his mistakes?

Stowie.40 12:27 Fri Feb 21
Re: Fredericks Injury
But sometimes it’s about just getting As many of your best players on the pitch as possible. He Isn’t ideal there the jock won’t play Nagika and Zaba is awful nowadays.

Lee Trundle 12:18 Fri Feb 21
Re: Fredericks Injury
I'm REALLY hoping Fredericks getting injured means we ditch this shitty 5 at the back formation, and revert to 4 at the back with Cresswell and Zaba as full backs.

I'm guessing Moyes will be sticking to his favoured formation though.

please, please, please, please, please, please,
please, please, please, please, please, please,
please, please, please, please, please, please

...everybody: stop suggesting that Antonio should play at right wing-back.

Bilic tried him there repeatedly and he was poor there. He is not a defender - and he has, very often, been our best player this season in his usual attacking/attacking-midfield role.

Why move your best/most effective player to a position he has proven he cannot play as well?

Re: Fredericks Injury
Sadly, we won't miss Fredericks. He has been a poor Premier League acquisition.

I like the kid, in terms of his general attitude, so I hope he recovers quickly. But he has not been anywhere near good enough. Worse than Sam Byram. Somehow, in typical West Ham fashion, we traded down again.

As a RWB you have to be supper fit. I fear Antonio could burn himself out. Yes he should be covered by one of the CBs. So shouldn't have to rush back from attacking moves. Worth a shot

boots, im going to break your legs with a baseball bat

Re: Fredericks Injury
If we are playing 3 cbs I would rather see Antonio as RWB.

Playing upfront dont suit him. Give him license to go forward and with his ability to beat a man it could cause problems.

he werent good a RB in a 442 but at RWB in a 343 I think it could work.
