Really liked Mark Robson... thought he was a cracking little player... he was on £250-00 per week as well... Bonds doubled it when we got promoted... and then he fucked off to CAFC

Thankfully, I don't think we'll get shafted with a fee for Rice when he goes this summer. He's on friendly terms with the club and I don't think he would stunk the place out like Payet or Arnie. If someone like Man Utd bid stupid money for him (which has been reported), then he'll be off. He'd want the move, and I think for the money offered the club would want the move.
But as Dan has suggested, it's whether that money is reinvest wisely or not is the big question.

Morning geoff.
If Rice goes on our terms then that's fine. Clubs like us don't have world class one-club men. As said elsewhere on here, well-run clubs sell players for big fees and then buy previously-scouted replacements with instant class and/or undoubted potential.
Obviously you can see the flaws in this when applied to West Ham (well-run being the first hurdle to fall at). I'm struggling to think of a big player that's been sold and replaced to our advantage since Dicks - March/Burrows/Chapman.
If we are a professional club then we have a shortlist of Rice replacements that have already been tapped-up to some extent. But you can bet your bollocks for a barn dance that we aren't and we don't.
And let's not even start on our owners reluctance to get bad PR for selling someone the fans like. We only sell big names when it's "unavoidable" and they've "gone on strike" or poisoned the well. They'll lowball and snide around (read the court case for their corp tax fraud) because fans don't know, don't care or don't understand. But to actually sell a popular player as a business decision? Well, that means fans might think we're a selling club or sing "where's the money gone?" and that's bad publicity. Cunts.

Oh, go on... THIS WEEK, it's
Rio Carrick Defoe
Back to front, English class.
TBh, didn't think THAT much of Lampard Jnr when he went. Was wrong, though. Cole was always just a bit too much of a showpony. Talented, but rarely going to win you games.
When Rice goes, it'll be a Rio Mk II-sized kick in the bollocks. Sadly, I suspect he's the only one we couldn't replace... if the owners only had a frigging clue.
What the FUCK has happened to The Academy.... Shameful. God, supporting West Ham does my head in.

James Tomkins, thought he was going to be a one club man like Noble. We could still do with him back now.

Peters - the transfer that first alerted me to the reality that we would never be a major team. Jimmy Greaves was by then a largely spent force. Rio - the best England defender at the time, who clearly did not want to leave Upton Park. Again another blow to my trust that West Ham could keep its own best players. Frank Lampard (jnr): - to me he was the most promising player of our "golden generation" above Rio, Defoe, Carrick etc., for his application, intelligence and two-footedness. He didn't really flower until at Chelsea but I had him down as our future long-term captain.

Good shout on Behrami, was gutted myself when he went. Zola’s 1st full season when we played a diamond with him, Parker, Noble and Collinson was brilliant. Personally think that was Nobles best season for us.

Loved Dicksy but his sale probably helped us with Marsh, Burrows and Chapman coming in.

Johnson - makes my list for those reasons and just the gutting nature of having that squad and that relegation.
Joe Cole - similar but also the first player I was excited about when I could really follow the club through the internet.
Rio - probably not the beginning but the beginning of my knowledge of horrible owners.
Objectively Payet probably but I can't feel it.

Bellamy - a genuinely classy player and goalscorer that could have walked into almost all teams starting XI. And he stated he wanted to stay with us long-term. Selling him and then pretending they'd spent all the proceeds on a mentally-unstable Ugandan chancer showed us the club was broken and thought the fans were idiots.
Ba - probably the best striker G&S have signed
Johnson, Neill, Jacobsen and any half-competent right back we've sold (short list I know)
