Eddie Large - RIP Coronavirus
Eddie Large has died after contracting coronavirus, his heartbroken son has confirmed.

Ryan McGinnis broke the sad news on Facebook, telling family and friends that his Scottish comedian dad had passed away at the age of 78.

"It is with great sadness that Mum and I need to announce that my dad, Edward Mcginnis, passed away in the early hours of this morning," he wrote.

"He had been suffering with heart failure and unfortunately, whilst in hospital, contracted the coronavirus, which his heart was sadly not strong enough to fight.

"Dad fought bravely for so long. Due to this horrible disease we had been unable to visit him at the hospital but all of the family and close friends spoke to him every day.

He was a Larger than life character. Anyone who didn't find Little and Large funny deserves a slap around the head with a sustainably line caught salmon.

100%

I heard two things this week that made me realise all is not what it appears. A lovely old fella I know who was terminally ill and had been told he had weeks to live sadly passed and they put it down to coronavirus as the cause of death. I also know a nurse in one of London’s biggest hospital who told me about the amount of people on the Covid wards who were under the care of the palliative care team.

In 2002 he was hospitalised with kidney problems.

In 2003, he had a heart transplant.

In 2013, he fell over a road sign and ended up in hospital where he contracted pneumonia, had pancreatic problems and also had a collapsed lung.

He was back in hospital this time with heart failure.

But it was Covid-19 that did for him, of course. If not for that, he'd be running a marathon.

As with all the hysterical stuff around coronavirus, it was his heart failure that killed him, the C-19 was just the final straw.

You're right and I would imagine much further down the line there will be much sorting out of more detailed information regarding who was likely to die anyway whether or not they were infected with Covid 19.

Nonetheless it will always be difficult to be precise as there may be several contributory factors, the exact one that caused death is not necessarily easy to identify specifically.

The media will usually not be able to stop themselves making the story as sensational as possible.

Re: Eddie Large - RIP Coronavirus
To be honest east, it is impossible to say whether he contracted Covid-19 IN hospital. He could have already been positive?

The reporting of deaths and reasons/ causes is entirely unsatisfactory at the moment.

All that's being reported, is it it not, is whether someone had the infection WHEN they died.

Despite my joshing, it's a shame. But there'll be thousands like him soon: poor health, die, test positive for Covid-19. And the cause of death is...?
