Re: GREAVESy in hospital
To be fair to him he did say himself that every club he played for the supporters said they got him at his best apart from westham fans and he totally agreed with them.
Outstanding goalscorer.

Good news and frankly not really expected in the current climate.

Good on you Jimmy.

"we are hoping he will be fine going forward.”

Well, he should be by now!

Hard to forget his "other" clubs and we got the absolute arse-end of him, but well played Jimmy.

Better news on Greavsie. Hoping he continues to recover. Always liked him. Has humility a quality sadly lacking in most people let alone professional footballers these days.

Re: GREAVESy in hospital
Jimmy Greaves has been released from hospital and is recovering at home after being taken ill last week.

A statement on the former England, Chelsea and Tottenham striker’s Facebook page said: “We are delighted to let you all know that Jimmy is now back at home recuperating with his wife Irene. He has been very ill and we are hoping he will be fine going forward.”

Used to love watching Saint and Greavsie on ITV as a kid. Too young to have ever seen him play but he always came across as a good guy on tv.

Hope he pulls through.

Imagine the stick Sir Alf would have got if England had lost the final.
Would have been plenty saying Greaves should have played and he never would have heard the end of it.
As plain old Alf not Sir Alf obvs.

I know it was different times but not sure why Greaves old mate Bobby Moore didn’t point out that taking an alcoholic in part exchange for Martin Peters wasn’t a good idea.
Maybe he did and we did the deal anyway.
Or Greaves really serious drinking was hidden.

Re: Greavesy in hospital
:-)

I had to play the man in form and Jimmy was injured when Geoff got his chance. Also, I understood the ancient football texts and scrolls which state that an English football team can only ever win a World Cup or in fact any tournament with 3 players from the Thames Ironworks or West Ham team.

No England manager seems to understand or know about this. Admittedly, the players at West Ham generally do a great job of looking anything but international standard but the law is written in stone... 3 West Ham players or you win nothing.

Pah, his problems were all your fault, picking Hurst for the Final...

Re: Greavesy in hospital
Shame about the Spurs connection but he seems a decent , humble bloke. People who have conquered an addiction tend to be humble types ( the need to be honest about yourself etc).

I wish him the best but if he has got "The 19" ( as I heard some African American from the hood say the other day, the odds are probably not good especially with his already compromised health etc. :-(

Born in Manor Park, used to live round the corner from my sister in Cranham Upminster. Watched him at WHL when we played them in the 60's. His record speaks for itself

I came on here to read some nice anecdotes about Jimmy.

Got some of that, and then the same old cunts having the same argument, on multiple threads.

It just isn't necessary to spam the threads with your spat. Stop it.
