Re: Let's all do the Barthez
Probably my favourite ever away day, was in line with the Man Utd defence as Di Canio made his run and vividly remember screaming 'he's fucking onside!" in my old mans ear as he raced through. The buzz of that goal going in...the only one that I can think of that came close was Ashton at Man City in the cup quarter in 2006 - spent the night on Moss Side that night, was also right up there with my favourite ever West Ham moments.

That Old Trafford trip was special though, took advantage of the coach, was almost late - got dropped off 10mins from the ground and the whole bus ran in a huge mob shouting at the top of our voices. Was Braveheart-esque! What a day!

Not that he would have heard but I just remember shouting to Paulo to not stop as i saw linesman was not flagging.

Worst bit of cheating I have seen by Barthez. Surprised media didn’t make more of it.

Sadly with VAR now I doubt we would have gone so mental at the time

I thought that was our year for the cup

So did I, especially after beating a good Sunderland side, at their place, in the following round.

....Had to fuck it up in the end in true West Ham fashion!

A fantastic day out. We didn't stop singing all game. It was around the time when Keane was calling out the prawn sandwich brigade. Fuck, they were quiet that day too. And when Di Canio goal went in I felt as if I'd just done a couple of lines of Charlie.

9000 plus fans, was a truly memorable day

Journey home was fantastic, Mangler on the phone to Alan Green on 606 was a highlight

Boots, what was the gist of that call?

Re: Let's all do the Barthez
One of my favourite goals and games of all time.

Totally superb result to go up there and do that to them. Really thought we could win the cup that season, after we beat them and Sunderland. (Both goals in 76th minute!)

Didn't Toderov have a glorious chance to equalise against spurs in the quarter final?

Re: Let's all do the Barthez
Great weekend. Spent the Saturday in Chester before driving across for the game. Seemed to be celebrating the goal for ages without watching the game.

We were just in front of some of the boxes and pretty sure we watched the draw for the next round before we were allowed out of the ground.

NS - I don’t think I have a bad record for the bridge, or the lane for that matter. The arse, not so good.

Re: Let's all do the Barthez
simon... Highbury was my lucky ground... saw far more victories than loses there... WHL not bad... Old Traff and the Bridge were hell holes for me... I reckon about 16 visits to those 2 grounds and I think the best I got was one draw at CFC...

Been to OT four, or maybe five times. Never seen us lose.

Re: Let's all do the Barthez
After my record of every game I ever went to OT we lost... I decided to stay away and play in a semi final in our Sunday League (lost 2-3) ... so me staying away was as much a reason of us winning 1-0 as Di Canio's goal... anyway the next season I was back to standard.. made the trip to OT in the cup and saw a great 0-6... I don't like Old Trafford too much...

Re: Let's all do the Barthez
It was even more satisfying that Man Utd. had devalued the cup, the previous season, by pulling out.

Remember Fergie blaming the pitch being ruined by rugby!!

Re: Let's all do the Barthez
And the BBC still haven't forgiven us for fucking up their FA Cup tie broadcast schedule for that season.
