Future of The London Stadium Post Covid 19
With summer events cancelled due to Covid 19 and severe doubt over future mass gatherings on top of the stadium recording big financial losses in previous years will the LLDC decide to try and offload it and release the burden on the taxpayer ?

If so will the board be in a position to purchase take control of operations and finally modify the ground accordingly.

It’s just like the Millenium Dome waiting to be turned into the O2 once the government incompetents get out of the way

Exact

The government are tied into getting a couple of million rent a year while paying massive costs and are incapable of making money from naming rights.
They can’t make money from it and need to give it to someone who can

anyone thinking we'll just be given a billion quid plot of land that even post covid the saudi's would be salivating at the opportunity to buy and develop is mental.

No, I mean that they'd buy it as-is and sell the whole thing ASAP and wash their hands of it. Let the new owners worry about converting it.

There's no way they'd buy it with an athletics commitment, so it wouldn't cost £8m a year (or whatever it is) to run, most of which comes from moving the seats. Meaning that if they bought it, it wouldn't cost loads to run.

"Then we can move the seats to a permanent position closer to the pitch."

The whole stadium would need to be remodelled for that to happen and at a great expense.

But of course owning the stadium and getting rid of athletics would be the first step.

Sadiq Khan was standing his ground, now he's on the ropes & desperate for cash.

Could cave in and accept a silly offer.

Then we can move the seats to a permanent position closer to the pitch. Biggest issue solved.

So they would buy an Athletics stadium and keep it as one? Makes a lot of sense that. We don't pay for moving the seats, so how is that an expense?

if it did happen then it would really expose Lady Brady. She keeps banging on about naming rights and commercial opportunities.......................... lets see if she really is the business expert she believes she is.

Re: Future of The London Stadium Post Covid 19
The current deal is so good for the owners and the added bonus that not owning the stadium gives them endless excuses for anything about it that’s shit. I can only imagine they’d look to buy on the cheap if they have a buyer for the club lined up - otherwise there’s little benefit to them

Re: Future of The London Stadium Post Covid 19
But they'd have all the income (food, drink, popcorn etc), without the biggest expense - moving the seats. It doesn't HAVE to lose money - other Clubs manage.

They wouldn't spend a penny on it bar perhaps something cheap to score some points with us, like the carpet. The point is I'm certain they'd buy it if it was available on-the-cheap - as I've said on here a lot of times, it makes the Club a much more saleable offering WITH the stadium.

the very last thing they will want to do is buy the stadium , even for nothing , they would then have the responsability and the cost of turning it into a football ground , in the present climate it is not going to happen''

Yup. Also have to pay for stewarding, maintenance, security, more staff and a load of other things if we owned it. And this is hardly the best of times to talk about the 'future' anyway when the world as we know it has ended, with no guarantee of a vaccine.

GSB have no interest in spending to improve the stadium
But a club with an owned (or option to own) stadium is a more attractive asset to sell.
