Question re Gyms
|
My Mrs has a membership at our local Bannatynes, which is obviously closed, which she wants out of
Her membership is up early June
Question, if we cancel membership will they still seek monies not paid because of the lockdown.
Does anyone know if memberships are for a definitive period, eg 12 actual months, or annual ?, June to June
Thanks, no pictures of said Mrs who is an ex Playboy model !

I think that's fair enough Alfs, insomuch as you paid for 12 months and you'll get 12 months. They could keep taking it to pay their overheads and add the time on at the end (which they were doing) but have now stopped taking it and owe you the time, it's a fair deal.
Yes they know every cunt will be joining a gym once allowed so are in for a windfall but they've acted in a good business way without being unfair.

Not a gym but I have a Cineworld monthly thing. They continued to take money for a month or two saying that the months would be added to the end of your contract.
Now they've stopped charging but will begin so again when they reopen and the contract continues.
Like blood out of stone, these companies will ensure that we pay for our contractual twelve months.

Having your hairy growler featured in Reader's Wives doesn't make you a model.

I thought Bannatynes had suspended collecting fees during lockdown! They’ll probably be one of the last sectors to re-open. If you wait until after June to cancel then I’d doubt they’d be able to come after you for anything.

Cancel the DD, if they do contact you it will be when they open. Then say you got no money, maybe they can offer a deal for a short period. Better than paying full whack if it comes to it

Is Bannatyne still taking money? Thought they’d all stopped.

Virgin have frozen memberships and they will restart when they reopen. My recollection is that they are October to October so suspect they will extend the membership to cover the closed months. They aren’t taking fees til then and that’s been the case for April & May.

Did they not contact at the start of lockdown and give you the opportunity to cancel?
David Lloyd was a rolling 12 month contract that automatically renews unless informed otherwise.
Cancel it, buy some sandbags - you’ll never go back.
