Gary Neville, what a player..you can see why he got 80 odd caps

This was the start of Spanish dominance in world football

In the semi against Croatia we needed an old head second half.someone to break things up and put themselves about a bit.
Once Modric started to dictate matters there was only going to be one winner and we had no answers or plan B.

Showed a flaw in Southgate's management and a lack of nous and planning.

Terry Venables would of got us over the line I reckon,

Manuel, most people I spoke to thought it was coming home you're right there..

A lot got carried away, didn't make it true. I thought we'd lose we did..

So by your flawed thick cunt logic, because I thought we'd lose and most thought we'd win.. Even though we lost, I wad still talking shit because I didn't agree with the majority..

What a thick laughable cunt you are... Was looking forward to a cunty reply, thanks for not disappointing, you can't cure stupid.

You have morphed into one of these contrary posters, or maybe you were always that way..When, what, why if, but..bore off.

Re: England v Spain Euro 96
You said they had a very good team and others saw it as an easy opportunity...neither are true. I never met anyone else who 'fancied' us to lose that game. Shite indeed.

Manuel.. I fancied Croatia to beat us, they did.

Explain to me how that is talking shite, seeing as that is exactly what happened..

fraser 2:41 Mon May 25
Re: England v Spain Euro 96
Of course we could have beaten Croatia.. But they would have said the same had they lost to us. Both would have seen it as a massive chance to get to the final

A poor semi final to be fair with two decent teams, but nothing more.

Griezmann and M’Bappe might have carried a little too much for England’s defence and flappy keeper and all.

Our biggest threat was height in the penalty box and that French team was huge......

Re: England v Spain Euro 96
Man for man I would have ranked England slightly ahead of Croatia but it certainly wasn’t an ‘easy’ game.
Not far off a 50/50 chance and it came down to who stepped up on the day.
As mentioned England were in front and controlling the game and Harry Kane had the chance to finish it.
He didn’t and when Croatia equalised England seemed to lose their shape and lost their way.
Never looked like winning from then on

I think France would have beaten them but you’ll never know.

fraser - You're really talking some shite now. of course we could have beaten Crotia didn't Kane miss a sitter when we were 1 up.

Re: England v Spain Euro 96
Modric aside, Croatia were nothing special and you’d expect England to beat them.

As World Cup semi finals go it’s very winnable.

I never look that deep it’s all about on the day, anything can happen!

Plus I like most of our players.. Most England players.. Well..

I always fancied Croatia to beat us..They had a very good team.. Not sure why others saw it as an easy opportunity.. I'm sure there run to the semi was harder than ours?

Always get excited watching West Ham, when we play well.. Not that often lately..

Fraser- so you don’t get excited watching West Ham? You just never know.......

Re: England v Spain Euro 96
France were the superior team but England (partly due to their fixture run) should have made the final and in a one off game who knows.
Of course they didn’t make it because Harry Kane bottled it in the semi final in an entirely Spursy way.

I was at the Spain game, behind the goal where the pens were taken.

Also was there when Gazza scored that goal.. Right in line with him when he received the ball

Used to love watching England but can't say I got that excited last world Cup as I didn't ever see us winning it.

Re: England v Spain Euro 96
I think England will look back on the last World Cup as a big missed opportunity.
Facing what was an easy route (comparably) to a major final they ballsed it up.

At least in 90 and 96 they lost on pens to the best team.

wd40 9:54 Mon May 25
Re: England v Spain Euro 96
Gazza what a player he was everytime he got the ball he was was looking to do something positive with it.
Maybe not so fit as he was in the 90's. Was watching the t.v in a garden when he scored that goal v Scotland the whole village must have been as well as the noise was similar to being at ground when some one scored.

You said what I was thinking. Can honestly say I've (probably) been more excited with big England wins than I ever have with any West Ham results. Can't really put my finger on why either to be honest. When we beat Columbia on pens at the last world cup I was an emotional wreck.
